Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Coach Ben's eyes narrowed as the fourth quarter commenced. He looked at the scoreboard and noted that the Feng Foxes hadn't scored against the Shizi Dogs in those three minutes.

Granted, the Dogs weren't able to score, too.

However, for a powerhouse like the Feng Foxes, Coach Ben felt that it was something to worry over.

"It's strange," he said to Kexin. "Why hasn't the score moved at all?"

Kexin clicked his tongue before groaning in frustration. "I hate not knowing the answer to that."

Just then, Coach Ben felt his phone vibrating in his pocket while the players got ready for the last quarter. He narrowed his eyes in suspicion when he saw that Coach Yixing of the Xing Stars was calling him.

He also saw that he already had seven other missed calls from him, so he answered the call out of pity.

"What?" he snapped. "Don't you know that I have a game?"

"I do," Yixing said. "I'm watching."

Coach Ben frowned and looked around, seeing the annoying coach with some of the players from Xing Academy.

"Then, why are you calling?" he snapped.

"Those new guys," Coach Yixing started off. "They're not one to be underestimated," he said.

Coach Ben sighed. "I know. I already told my players to be on their feet."

"No, you don't understand!" Yixing exclaimed. "There are five monsters standing on the court right now."

"And I'm not talking about your players," he continued, making Ben frown.

Sensing Ben's silence, Yixing continued ranting. "You'll see soon enough, but I think it's a mistake that you brought out your ideal line-up from the very first quarter. They're tired, and they wouldn't be able to battle against this fresh line-up."

Coach Ben clicked his tongue, not wanting to be called out.

"Why are you even telling me this?"

"Duh!" Coach Yixing exclaimed. "I want to play with you guys in the next round."

Ben shook his head. "I really don't know if you're joking or not."

"I'm not," Yixing said, his voice more serious than ever.

"Watch out for them," he said. "I really don't want to play against the Shizi Dogs."

With that, Coach Yixing ended the call, leaving Coach Ben with more questions in his mind.

Then, he bit his fists in frustration. Why did it feel like Yixing was more afraid of the Dogs than the Foxes?

The referee blew the whistle, and both teams were feeling the pressure of the last quarter.

It seemed like Ben didn't have to wait long for Yixing's words to make sense.

Two minutes into the quarter, Zeren was already in a dilemma.

Zeren, who was unfamiliar with the player he was facing, couldn't find it in himself to stop his shooting spree.

Andy was on fire, sinking two consecutive three-point shots.

The crowd roared, some even standing from their seats out of excitement.

Yiming tried to respond but missed his shot, and Jinping was there to grab the rebound. He quickly passed it back to Andy, who, with a scary accuracy, made a third three-pointer.

"Three in a row!" Mark exclaimed. "Andy is unstoppable right now!"

Jinping, energized by his team's performance, focused intently on Shilei. With everyone else occupied with their respective opponents, Jinping found the opportunity he was waiting for. He slapped the ball out of Shilei's hands and sent a perfect pass to Renren.

Renren glanced at Yuze, who nodded back, understanding the play right away. Yuze set a perfect screen, giving Renren the space he needed. Renren then passed the ball to Kai, who was waiting near the ring. With a quick, precise move, Kai shot the ball, and Yuze followed up with a powerful slam dunk.

65-64.

The court erupted into deafening cheers.

They were now only separated by a single gap, with the Dogs preventing the Foes from scoring.

"What's this?" Mark exclaimed. "In four minutes, the Shizi Dogs has changed the course of the game! What else is up their sleeves?"

Bao shook his head in amazement as he watched from the bleachers.

"Their teamwork is insane," he exclaimed.

Alen excitedly nodded. "Where have they been hiding this line-up all along?"

One of the office workers placed his hand over his heart. "This is the most my heart has beaten after she left me," he muttered.

As the game continued, Kai found himself face-to-face with Chunlei.

The crowd fell silent, sensing the significance of the moment. It was a true one-on-one battle between two outstanding players.

"This moment is something we've all been waiting for," Mark said in a hushed tone.

"With no interruptions, Kai Guo and Chunlei Dong are facing each other in the middle of the court."

The other players glanced their way.

The Foxes wanted to help their star player, but their respective guards kept them in their current positions.

It was a man-to-man showdown.

They stood there for a while, with Kai dribbling the ball and gauging Chunlei's actions.

At that moment, Kai remembered the last time he faced Chunlei.

It was at the city's public basketball court when he was looking for a pretty rock.

His leg had been injured then, so he wasn't able to keep up with Chunlei's play.

It was a memory he wanted to block because of the humiliation.

However, he could still vaguely remember watching Chunlei disappear before his eyes as he shot the ball.

Kai recalled how Chunlei made the move. Then, it clicked into place.

Determined to turn the tables, Kai moved with lightning speed.

Chunlei felt like the world had frozen over as Kai disappeared right before his eyes.

It was only then that he realized it was a move of his own.

With that, he acted quickly, knowing the secret to the move.

However, it was too late.

Kai sank the ball, scoring with a speed that left the crowd in awe.

The scoreboard flashed: 65-66.

The Shizi Dogs had taken the lead.

"Unbelievable!" Mark's voice rang out. "Kai has just turned this game on its head!"

"For the first time in the night, the Shizi Dogs are now in the lead!"
