Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 295: Feng Foxes vs. Shizi Dogs (5)

Kai smirked as he looked around, taking in the surprised faces of everyone on the court.

"Did he just do that?"

"Against Chunlei?"

"What is this kid on?"

"Is it that surprising?" Kai muttered.

It was, indeed, the most exciting moment of the night.

Even Mark Li couldn't stop talking about it. "Did you see that, everyone? Kai just pulled off an incredible dunk! The speed, the agility, the precision! He twisted his body mid-air and nailed it. I thought he was going to snap his spinal cord in half.

Absolutely phenomenal!"

Lina looked equally surprised. Coach Muchen chuckled as he took in her appearance.

"It seems like Kai doesn't want you to worry at all," he remarked.

Suzy's jaw also dropped as she continued watching Kai's figure. The cheerleaders, too, momentarily paused in their routines, their eyes wide with amazement.

Miss Cherry stood from her seat and shook her head.

"I didn't know Kai was this good!" she exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Sir Dao couldn't keep his mouth closed as he replayed the scene in his mind.

"He wasn't," he muttered.

"He was never this good."

However, as much as the others were surprised, Chunlei was the most surprised of all. He couldn't believe what he had just witnessed.

Kai hadn't moved like that against Yiming!

"What is this?" he muttered as Kexin passed him the ball.

As the game continued, Chunlei was determined to regain control. He dribbled down the court, his eyes scanning for an opening.

However, Kai was set on stopping him, shadowing his every move. Chunlei made a sharp turn, pivoting to pass to Yuze. In that split second, Kai struck. He snatched the ball from Chunlei's hands and darted down the court.

"Kai steals the ball from Chunlei!" Mark's voice echoed through the arena.

"He's on fire!" Bao exclaimed, standing from his seat.

His past teammates in the second-string team also couldn't believe it.

"I knew that he was good," Dylan started off.

"But, could it be possible that he's better than Chunlei?"

The Feng Foxes turned to each other in surprise, wondering how Kai had gotten it so easily from their star player.

Yiming clicked his tongue.

"Defense!" he exclaimed to his stunned teammates, causing them to go back to game mode.

Kai passed the ball to Kun, who was in a good position. Kun took the shot, but it bounced off the rim.

The crowd groaned in disappointment, and Kun cursed under his breath.

"He missed that? That was a once in a lifetime opportunity!"

"Chunlei wouldn't let the ball get stolen again."

Some muttered that it was just luck that Kai had managed to intercept Chunlei.

They figured Chunlei had been caught off guard, that was all.

"You alright?" Yiming asked, jogging beside his teammate.

Chunlei clenched his jaw. "Yeah, it was a mistake. I was just taken aback."

"Yeah, the dunk was crazy," Yiming said.

"I'm fine now," Chunlei grumbled.

Yiming nodded and got back in his position.

Kai heard their conversation and was determined to prove them wrong.

"I won't let it happen again," Chunlei muttered, looking for someone to pass the ball to.

Then, he smirked when he saw Yiming with open arms. He prepared himself for a thunderous pass—one he knew wouldn't be intercepted.

"Chunlei is gearing up for the pass!" Mark exclaimed. "He's known for his very fast passes. Let's see if the Foxes can widen the gap once more!"

Chunlei threw the ball toward Yiming.

However, Kai caught his movement.

In fact, he could see the ball's movement.

So, he didn't hesitate to intercept the pass.

It was the perfect timing.

Chunlei's eyes widened as his gaze met with Kai's. It seemed like the world slowed down as Kai went between the two of them, his hands wrapping around the ball.

Kai sprinted down the court for a fast break. With a swift move, he laid the ball into the net.

18-9.

The gap was now down to a single digit.

Seeing Kai so fired up sparked a new energy in the rest of the Shizi Dogs.

They glanced at each other and shared determined nods.

Yuze, inspired by Kai's intensity, exchanged a quick look with him, and they smirked, a silent agreement to take it up a notch.

Mark's voice boomed through the speakers. "Kai and Yuze are on fire! Watch how they coordinate. Yuze sets the screen, and Kai uses it to break free. Yiming tries to block, but Kai's too quick. He slips past, and there's the pass back to Yuze!

What a play! The Shizi Dogs are showing their teeth now!"

"Could it be that we have a new duo in town?" he asked.

Shizi High's supporters, who had lost hope in the past five minutes, were now more excited than ever.

Meanwhile, Chunlei's frustration was mounting. He prided himself on his skills, but the Shizi Dogs were challenging his patience. Enjoy new stories from My Virtual Library Empire

He decided to take matters into his own hands, trying to make plays solo to prove he was still the best. But his efforts only highlighted the cracks in the Foxes' teamwork.

Coach Ben stood in frustration.

"What is he doing?" he muttered.

"Pass the ball, Chunlei!" he exclaimed; however, it was to no avail.

Chunlei pushed forward, tuning out everyone. He drove towards the basket, but Kai was ruthless.

Kai studied Chunlei's every move, anticipating his next step. As Chunlei went for a layup, Kai made his move. He slapped the ball out of Chunlei's hands.

The ball flew into the air, and Kai leaped once again, catching it mid-flight.

The crowd erupted in amazement.

"Kai steals it again! This kid is unstoppable!" Mark shouted, his voice full of excitement.

"He did it again," Lina muttered. "How can he jump consecutively like that?"

Kai didn't waste any time.

He bolted down the court, the seconds ticking away. With only three seconds left on the shot clock, he took a risky shot from an awkward angle.

The ball sailed through the air as the buzzer sounded. The crowd held its breath.

Swish.

25-23.
