Babysitting Whitebeard’s Crew:How I Accidentally Became a Teen Emperor

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Big Shoutout to Lucas!

The room was filled with murmurs of disbelief and growing curiosity as Marco stood with his fiery wings ablaze, holding the comic book like a relic of some ancient power.

"What? Another mention of comic?" Blamenco muttered, scratching his head.

Moments earlier, Marco and Jozu had claimed to have stepped out of a comic book world, a statement met with scepticism. But now, with Marco demonstrating powers seemingly beyond his Devil Fruit's capabilities, the captains couldn't help but second-guess their doubts.

Vista's sharp eyes zeroed in on the comic cover. "Wait! Look at the phoenix's flame on this cover—it's orange! The same as Marco's flames!"

Fossa, 15th Division Commander, stepped closer, pointing with excitement. "And look at its form—flame wings on its back! It's exactly like Marco right now!"

The captains crowded around, comparing the fiery wings and flames depicted on the comic's cover to the ones now radiating from Marco.

"Unbelievable…" Blamenco breathed.

"It matches perfectly!" Curiel, 10th Division Commander, exclaimed.

Realization began to dawn on the captains. Could Marco and Jozu have been telling the truth all along?

"A world inside a comic, and the power to gain abilities from it?" Blamenco mused. "This is too incredible to ignore."

"Marco!" Curiel pressed, his voice tinged with hope. "You said earlier that we might also have the chance to gain abilities like this. Was that true?"

Haruta, the 12th Division Commander, stepped forward eagerly. "Yeah! Can we also enter the comic world and get these kinds of powers?"

The captains leaned in closer, anticipation gleaming in their eyes.

Marco raised his hand, signalling for calm. He looked at the comic in his hands, chuckled softly, and shook his head. "Sorry. It's not that simple."

His words struck like a thunderclap.

"Eh? What do you mean?" Vista asked, his excitement deflating.

Marco's expression turned serious as he explained. "The ability I gained from this comic activated the Phoenix bloodline within me. As you all know, my Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, already granted me a connection to phoenix traits, even if faint. This comic awakened the dormant potential within my bloodline. Without that connection, the activation would be impossible."

The room fell silent as the truth settled in.

"Ah… I knew it wouldn't be so easy," Fossa muttered, crossing his arms.

"Damn it, so we're out of luck, huh?" Blamenco sighed.

"Marco, that's cold! You got our hopes up for nothing!" Namur shouted.

"Let's gang up on him!" Blamenco declared, cracking his knuckles.

The captains began to close in, their playful aggression evident in their exaggerated glares and ready fists.

"Wait, wait!" Marco said, throwing up his hands in mock fear. "Let me finish!"

The captains paused but didn't lower their fists.

Marco smirked. "While this comic might not be useful to you, there are others—plenty of them—that can grant you incredible abilities."

"Wait, what?!"

"You mean there are more comics like this?" Vista asked, his voice rising.

"Exactly," Marco confirmed, holding up the book for emphasis. "This comic is just one of many. Jozu and I barely scratched the surface. There are shelves filled with these magical comics, and every single one holds unique abilities."

Jozu stepped forward, brandishing his comic, The Legend of Might Guy. "He's right. I gained this power from my comic, too. Marco and I tested the comics ourselves—these are the real deals."

The captains were struck speechless, their excitement bubbling over into an uproar.

"HOLY HELL!"

"This is insane!"

"Marco, Jozu, what are we waiting for?! Take us there right now!"

Vista slapped Marco on the back, grinning from ear to ear. "You two really outdid yourselves. Yo, we gotta show love for this; they came through!"

"Absolutely!" Fossa agreed. "This is a gift beyond anything we could've imagined."

"Marco! Jozu! Thank you so much!"

Hearing the heartfelt gratitude from them, Marco and Joz exchanged sheepish glances, their faces reddening.

"Ahem," Marco cleared his throat, raising a hand to silence the crowd. "Actually, you're thanking the wrong people."

The division commanders froze, confusion spreading through the room.

Jozu nodded, stepping beside Marco. "Yeah, this isn't our doing. You guys need to thank our current captain—Lucas!"
