Chapter 733: 308 is extremely meticulous in thinking
Moreover, considering the events of the past two days, the Dark Law Enforcer's thought processes have been extremely meticulous, and when it comes to trap design and computer technology, they can only be described as genius. How could such a genius criminal not have prepared an escape route in advance?
Evidently, Captain Jack was also aware of this, which is why he didn't say much when he saw Lisa remain standing where she was.
Just then, several luxurious Audi cars slowly pulled up nearby. Surrounded by a group of burly bodyguards, a slightly overweight middle-aged man in an expensive suit stepped down from the car, and with steady strides, he walked toward Captain Jack.
This middle-aged man was Robert Johnson, a well-known business tycoon in New York City. He glanced at the detectives heading toward the woods, then said to the head bodyguard beside him: "You lead some men into the woods and make sure to catch that guy! No matter what means you use, I want him to pay the price!"
The head bodyguard nodded, turned around, and quickly headed toward the woods with some bodyguards.
Captain Jack watched the group of bodyguards leave without stopping them, but he firmly stared at Robert Johnson and frowned as he asked: "Robert, the police have already cordoned off this area; what do you have in mind coming in here like this?"
"Don't concern yourself with how I got in. I'm here today to demand your police department explain what happened to my son!" Robert Johnson said with a cold face and a sneer, his eyes revealing a fierce ruthlessness.
"Robert, I ask that you do not obstruct police operations. Once we catch the criminal, rest assured, you will receive a satisfactory explanation!" Captain Jack replied curtly while suppressing the anger in his heart.
"Catch the criminal? When have you not arrived at the scene after the victim was already dead? Plus, you're being mocked in the face of millions of Americans, and you still have the nerve to say you can catch the perpetrator?" Robert Johnson said with full disdain, his tone filled with contempt for the police.
"Mr. Johnson, please watch the way you speak!"
Lisa, known for her aloof nature, showed rare anger in her eyes, speaking in a cold voice that carried an authoritative tone leaving no room for doubt.
"There's a problem with the way I speak?"
The smirk on Robert Johnson's face deepened as he retorted: "The police are ineffectual in their investigations, and now you won't let people speak up? My son has died under unclear circumstances; as a father, do I not even have the right to seek justice for him?"
"Lisa, less talk!" Captain Jack snapped, his face cold as ice. He knew now was not the time to argue with Robert Johnson; the priority was to catch the Dark Law Enforcer.
Then, Captain Jack looked at Robert Johnson again and said solemnly: "If you're here just to make accusations, we don't have the time to entertain you! We have an important task to complete."
"Ha, as if I have nothing better to do than to waste my time with you all. I'm here today to inform you that I've decided to offer a reward for the investigation. Whoever can provide clues leading to the arrest of that murderer will receive a substantial reward from me. I trust the police won't interfere with me!"
"Robert! You're obstructing police work, and I could arrest you right now for obstructing official business!"
Captain Jack raised his voice, unable to contain his anger any longer. In truth, he had never held much regard for this business magnate of New York City. Before the live murder case arose, one of the main tasks of the detective team was to conduct a secret investigation into Robert Johnson. Although no solid evidence has been found yet, Captain Jack was well aware that many unsavory cases were connected to Robert Johnson.
"Arrest me?"
Robert Johnson let out a few cold chuckles as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. He then said in an icy tone: "Do you dare? You'd better think carefully, as the reach and power of my connections are beyond your imagination."
Saying so, Robert Johnson patted Captain Jack's shoulder, leaned into his ear and whispered a threat: "I know you've been investigating me. If you dare obstruct me this time, be careful when your family steps out of your house. I have plenty of ways to make them have 'accidents.'"
After speaking, Robert Johnson's face returned to a beaming smile as he turned and left, but the chilling murderous intent in his eyes sent shivers down one's spine.
Watching Robert Johnson's retreating figure, Captain Jack clenched his fists tightly, his face turning the color of iron, and his body trembled slightly. His heart was filled with anger and helplessness, but he knew that now was not the time for a direct confrontation with Robert Johnson.
At that moment, one of the detectives, out of breath with excitement, hurriedly ran up to Captain Jack and exclaimed: "Captain, we've found a clue! We've discovered some strange tools and a piece of paper with a code written on it in a corner of the basement."
Upon hearing this, Captain Jack's eyes lit up with a glint of hope. He quickly said: "Lead the way, show me!"
Everyone rushed towards the basement, filled with anticipation, hoping that these clues would be key to catching the Dark Law Enforcer.
In the basement, Captain Jack saw the strange tools and the coded note. The tools appeared to be very professional as if they were for constructing and setting traps, and for Lisa, who was proficient in computer technology, the code on the paper seemed somewhat familiar.
