Aryavart : The Eternal Quest

Chapter 46: Leaving The Forest

As Arya, Vaishnavi, and Sachin prepare to leave the cursed jungle, the earth trembles beneath them. A deep, primal growl echoes through the trees. The mist swirls violently, and from the shadows, a colossal creature emerges.

The Vanthara, a majestic yet terrifying beast, steps forward. Its body is a fusion of ancient roots and living fur, its four glowing eyes radiate wisdom and power, and its antlers stretch like twisted branches toward the sky.

Vanthara (in a deep, rumbling voice):

"The forest has chosen. He cannot leave."

Sachin stumbles back, still weak from his hallucination.

Sachin (gasping):

"W-What? What do you mean?!"

Vanthara:

"You have been marked, outsider. Your fate is tied to the whispers of this land. You will remain, or you will perish."

Arya steps forward, his stance firm, placing himself between Sachin and the beast.

Arya (defiantly):

"He is not yours to claim. If you want him, you'll have to go through me."

The Vanthara lets out a low chuckle, the trees around them shuddering with its amusement.

Vanthara:

"You challenge me, warrior of Wrath? Your rage is still young, your control untested. If you fight like a beast, you will fall like one."

Arya (gritting his teeth):

"I don't fight for Wrath alone. I fight for my people."

Without warning, the Vanthara lunges forward! Arya barely dodges as a massive claw slashes the ground where he stood.

The battle begins.

Arya attacks with precision, channeling his strength—but the Vanthara is fast. It moves like the wind, its body merging with the jungle, striking from impossible angles.

Arya's instincts scream at him to unleash the Mark of Wrath, to burn everything in his path—but he hesitates.

Vaishnavi (shouting):

"Don't lose yourself, Arya! Remember Hanuman's words!"

Arya clenches his fists, steadying his breath. He recalls Hanuman's lesson—power without devotion leads to ruin. Instead of fighting recklessly, he focuses…

When the Vanthara charges again, Arya sidesteps gracefully, using the beast's momentum against it. He strikes at the perfect moment—not with rage, but with control.

The Vanthara stumbles, its glowing eyes widening.

Vanthara (grinning, voice amused):

"So… you have learned."

The Vanthara stops attacking, towering over Arya. The jungle stills.

Vanthara:

"You did not fight with mindless wrath. You fought with purpose. Perhaps… I was mistaken."

Sachin steps forward hesitantly.

Sachin:

"What did you mean by 'chosen'?"

Vanthara:

"Your spirit carries doubt, yet the forest sees potential. It tested you… and you survived. You may leave, but the mark remains. One day, you will understand why."

Sachin shivers as he feels something cold yet familiar settle in his heart. A warning… or a destiny?

The Vanthara turns away, vanishing into the trees like a ghost. The jungle seems… quieter.

[Setting: Edge of the jungle, near a rocky clearing. The air is still, as if time itself holds its breath.]

Arya, Vaishnavi, and Sachin step cautiously out of the thick jungle, their bodies still tense from their battle with the Vanthara. The oppressive energy of the forest fades, replaced by an eerie silence. Just ahead, seated on a lone rock, is a small girl. She gazes up at them with large, unblinking eyes, her tiny frame illuminated by the fading sunlight.

Vaishnavi (whispering to Arya): "A child? Here? Alone?"

Sachin (arms crossed, skeptical): "This place has played too many tricks on us already. Be careful."

The girl tilts her head slightly, her expression unreadable. She doesn't appear lost, afraid, or even surprised by their presence. Instead, she simply watches Arya—calm, expectant.

Arya (softly, stepping closer): "Who are you?"

The girl blinks, then slowly stands. Her small hands clutch the hem of her simple, white dress as if trying to remember something.

Ravi (quietly): "Ravi."

Vaishnavi (gentle but firm): "Ravi… and where are your parents? How did you get here?"

There is a long pause. Ravi lowers her gaze as if searching for an answer that isn't there. Then she lifts her head and looks directly into Arya's eyes.

Ravi (soft but certain): "I don't remember."

A faint breeze stirs the leaves, but the silence around them remains unnerving. There is no fear in the girl's voice—only certainty. Arya watches her carefully, sensing something inexplicable, something familiar yet impossible to place.

Arya (kneeling down to her level): "And why are you here… alone?"

Ravi (hesitates, then whispers): "Waiting for you."

The words send a shiver through Arya's spine. Vaishnavi and Sachin exchange wary glances, their unease growing. Something about this child is unnatural.

Sachin (gripping his sword hilt): "Alright, that's it. This is too weird. How does she know your name?"

Arya (ignoring Sachin, looking at Ravi closely): "You were waiting for me? How do you know me?"

Ravi stares at him for a long moment before shaking her head slowly.

Ravi (softly): "I don't know… But when I saw you… I felt like I had been looking for you forever."

Arya's heartbeat quickens. There is something unsettling in her words, something beyond logic. And yet… he doesn't feel threatened by her presence.

Vaishnavi (watching Arya, concerned): "Arya, what are you thinking?"

Arya (standing up, eyes still on Ravi): "She's coming with us."

Sachin (in disbelief): "What? You can't be serious!"

Arya (firmly): "She's just a child, Sachin."

Sachin (frustrated): "A child with no past? A child who knew your name before we told her? That doesn't bother you?"

Vaishnavi (softly, but wary): "Sachin has a point, Arya. We don't know what she is."

Arya looks at Ravi once more. Her small hand reaches out, grasping the edge of his cloak. The touch is oddly warm, a strange comfort spreading through him. A feeling of déjà vu washes over him, as if he has met her before, in another time… another life.

Arya (decisively): "Then we'll find out."

The discussion ends. Vaishnavi sighs, giving in, while Sachin mutters under his breath but doesn't argue further. Ravi simply smiles—small, innocent… and yet, something in her eyes remains unreadable.

[Scene fades as the group continues their journey, the mystery of Ravi only deepening.]
