Whoosh—

Link Star let out a low whistle, his tone teasing as he spoke. "I never thought the day would come when Councilor Talis, who once said, 'Call me Councilor,' would change so much!"

Jayce, provoked by Link's words, flushed red and clenched his fists, waving them in the air. "That was then, this is now! I won't repeat the mistakes of the past. I'm only striving for a better tomorrow!"

Seeing Jayce's enthusiasm, Link stepped closer and patted him on the arm. "Then work hard and become the guardian of the future, Councilor Jayce Talis!"

Turning to Viktor, Link asked, "Viktor, care to join me for a little outing?"

Viktor nodded in agreement. "Sure. Blitzcrank's final adjustments are complete, and Caitlyn's new weapon is in Jayce's capable hands. I suppose I can spare some time to walk with you."

"Let's go, then!"

Link and Viktor walked side by side, with Pride trailing behind like a shadow. His eyes were fixed solely on Link, as if nothing else in the world mattered.

Caitlyn and Jayce watched the two depart. Caitlyn sighed softly. "If you had told me back in our academy days that this would be our future, I wouldn't have believed it."

Jayce shook his head, a wry smile on his face. "Who can predict the future?" He opened the door to his lab and gestured for Caitlyn to enter. "After you, Sheriff. Everything you requested is ready."

"If it's not up to par, I'll file a complaint!" Caitlyn teased, mimicking Link's tone. The two shared a laugh, their camaraderie evident.

No matter what the past held, they were determined to stride forward into the future.

The Streets of Zaun

"What's your next move?" Viktor asked, trailing slightly behind Link as they walked.

Link glanced around, observing the changes in the streets, and replied casually, "Probably holing up in the workshop for some experiments. Though I might step out occasionally for a breath of fresh air."

"And if the Ferros family assigns me a task, I'll take the opportunity to test my latest invention."

"Sounds idyllic," Viktor remarked, using his staff to navigate around a group of children playing in the street.

Link chuckled dryly. "What seems idyllic is often just a facade."

"You sound pessimistic," Viktor said, frowning as they stepped onto the lift.

"Maybe I am," Link murmured, his voice low as he recalled the stories and lore he had once read. "Piltover and Zaun are just a small corner of Runeterra. The world beyond is vast."

"Under the iron heel of Noxus, all obstacles are crushed. Demacia's anti-magic walls stand tall, rejecting all forms of sorcery. In Ionia, the spirits of nature exist in both the physical and spiritual realms, constantly shifting. The frozen tundras of the Freljord sing praises to the resilience of life. Beneath the sands of Shurima lie countless secrets."

"And the distant peak of Mount Targon, bathed in the light of the Aspects, awaits those brave enough to challenge it."

As Link spoke, the lift doors opened, and the two stepped out, drawing curious glances from passersby. Pride was already waiting outside, having flown ahead. Being able to fly, he had no need for the lift—and besides, he wouldn't have fit inside.

"Even closer to home, the jungles of Ixtal hold their own mysteries. The port of Bilgewater is a breeding ground for both wealth and crime. And then there's the Shadow Isles, a place of unspeakable horror."

"Sounds... fascinating," Viktor said, his tone thoughtful.

"Exploring the unknown is always fascinating, Viktor," Link replied as they arrived at the workshop district. He stopped in front of a riverside workshop, his former workplace.

After moving into the Bluewind Estate, Link had received the deed to this workshop. However, with the underground lab at the estate at his disposal, he had no need for this place and had gifted it to Singed.

"What is this place?" Viktor asked, his gaze sweeping over the tall iron gates, the garden beyond, and the Piltover-style workshop roof. The stained-glass windows reflected the sunlight, casting a kaleidoscope of colors.

"My old workshop. Now it belongs to an old friend of ours."

"An old friend?"

"You'll see soon enough."

Link led Viktor inside, where the first thing that caught their attention was the alchemical sunlamps hanging from the ceiling. The lights mimicked natural sunlight, and sprinklers nestled between the lamps dripped water, the floor still damp from recent use.

Viktor looked at the plants growing in specially designed containers and murmured, "Dr. Singed lives here, doesn't he?"

"Exactly," Link replied, guiding Viktor through the plant cultivation area to the back warehouse.

As they entered, they found Singed adjusting a burner.

"You two arrived faster than I expected. I was just about to brew some tea."

"Doctor," Viktor greeted with a nod.

Singed approached, his eyes filled with awe as he examined Viktor's mechanical arm. "My boy, you've changed so much."

He reached out, gently touching the metallic limb. "Incredible... truly remarkable. I can only imagine how the world looks through your eyes now, Viktor."

Singed's expression was complex as he studied Viktor's arm. Viktor shook his head. "This wasn't what I wanted, but at least I've found the right path after straying for so long."

"Everyone makes mistakes, but what matters is that you continue to pursue your ideals," Singed said softly.

"Alright, Doctor, that's enough. You're going to scare Viktor off, and he'll never visit again," Link joked, flipping through Singed's research notes. The pages were filled with the doctor's efforts to bring his daughter back to life.

"Maintaining a thirst for knowledge and an unwavering passion is the duty of every seeker," Singed said with a faint smile.

Viktor added, "But on this path of knowledge, we are not alone."

Singed paused, his back hunched as he slowly nodded. "Perhaps. But when I chose this path—one that would inevitably draw scorn and hatred—I was prepared for the consequences."

"Alright, gentlemen," Link clapped his hands, drawing their attention. "Let's save the philosophical discussions for later. How about we talk about something exciting?"

"What are you planning now?" Singed asked, knowing full well that Link always had a way of surprising people.

"Resurrecting the dead," Link said, his voice steady. "The ultimate goal you've been striving for, Doctor."
