Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

What Bai Feng didn't know was that Bai Xue had always been like this —she was never the kind and sweet little girl that she pretended to be. In the past, Bai Xue didn't have to worry about anything; thus, it was easy for her to wear the mask that she had been carrying on her face for so long.

But the current situation was no longer the same. Bai Xue knew that if she didn't plan for her future, things might not go according to her wishes. Thus, she was willing to do anything to get what she wanted, even if it meant that she had to cross all limits.

There was also her sudden change in attitude. In the past, Bai Xue was proud as a peacock; she would never look at a man and please him unless he was related to Bai Meiyue. But now, whether it was a man or a woman, she would do absolutely anything to please them, which made Bai Feng really unsettled. Now even if she had to kneel or beg the person in front of her, Bai Xue would willingly do that.

Did he not understand her calculations? At first he didn't but after Bai Meiyue pointed it out, he seemed to have understood what was going on. Bai Xue indeed wanted Bai Meiyue to come back but she wanted her back at the cost of bringing the man by Bai Meiyue's side close to her.

In order to snatch a man, Bai Xue didn't even think twice to use her own brother. Was it really for Bai Meiyue? Or was Bai Xue thinking of ways to manipulate the situation and become the last winner?

Though Bai Xue had an answer, he didn't want to delve any further into it. It was, however, impossible for him to go against Bai Meiyue and help Bai Xue pull Lei Qian to her side. Bai Meiyue was also his sister and he wanted her to live a good life. Given that the man could withstand one of his strongest attacks, it showed that he was skilled.

As long as he was with Bai Meiyue, then Bai Feng didn't have to worry about Bai Meiyue's safety.

Bai Xue might say that Bai Meiyue was being manipulated by Lei Qian but from what he saw, Bai Meiyue was not only clearheaded; her attitude towards Lei Qian was at best like an acquaintance.

If anything, it was Lei Qian who seemed to be taken by Bai Meiyue. Just now, when he instinctively hurt Bai Meiyue, Lei Qian rushed to protect her at once. This alone was enough to make Bai Feng give up on his murderous thoughts.

Bai Feng would never touch Lei Qian now that he knew his attitude towards Bai Meiyue. Unless that man does anything that might hurt Bai Meiyue, Bai Feng would never touch him. At least with Lei Qian by her side, even if Bai Meiyue was to offend someone, they would think twice before retaliating.

Bai Feng knew Lei Qian and understood how deep the mind of that man was before the end of the world. With him by her side, no one would ever be able to hurt Bai Meiyue.

"Brother Feng!"

However, Bai Feng didn't stop. At that moment, his deep black eyes were as gloomy as a quagmire. He strode past Bai Xue, leaving the latter behind in the corridor.

Bai Xue didn't chase after him; she stayed stubbornly where she was, thinking that Bai Feng would turn around and listen to her, but that man never looked back. Seeing him walk away, Bai Xue's expression turned sombre. At the same time, her heart couldn't help but turn cold.

Why? Why was she the only one who did not turn into an ability user? Everyone around her was awakening one by one and only she and her family were the ones who couldn't awaken. Forget about awakening as a powerful ability user; they didn't even show any signs of awakening.

There was no stir at all.

Why? Why though!? Even someone as useless as Bai Meiyue could awaken as a powerful ability user, then why couldn't she?

Bai Xue was filled with resentment. She had no idea that the woman she had looked down upon all her life was the cause behind her not being able to awaken. Bai Xue stood on the spit filled with resentment and rage. Since Bai Feng refused to help her, she would think of some other way to make that man follow her.

As she thought of ways to bring Lei Qian by her side, she raised her head and looked at her reflection in the glass of the broken window. Though she and Bai Meiyue looked considerably different, they still had some similarities, like their eyes and side profiles.

She resembled Bai Meiyue from the right a little.

"If…" If Bai Meiyue died, then wouldn't it mean that she would have a chance to win over Lei Qian? The more Bai Xue thought about it, the more excited she became.

No matter what, she would think of a way to make Lei Qian support her instead of Bai Meiyue. Because that woman didn't deserve it!

The night was bound to pass restlessly for some. However, Bai Meiyue not only ate and drank well, she slept quite peacefully. When she woke up and looked out of the window, she saw thin, gray and black snow covering the road. Though the snow outside was really thin, the temperature had gone down even more.

Bai Meiyue yawned. She got to the bathing room and took a shower before dressing up and stepping out of the room. She planned on making a trip to the southern district and collecting some supplies to exchange. At the same time, she also needed to bring Shen Zhen along with her and help that woman collect some nappies and milk powder.

"Work, work... So much work," she muttered. She thought that after the apocalypse, she would finally be able to live a comfortable life, but it seemed like she was still far from it!
