Chapter 2: An Anomaly (2)
...
Even so, why am I considered an anomaly?
I thought deeply for a few minutes while thinking on my bed, taking in this information.
It doesn't really make sense...
...hold on.
I remember that before he encouraged me, I was about to starve. Starving usually stunts growth for a few months due to indigestion in this world.
So that means...!
Maybe if I didn't have that dream, I would've been weaker than before, and have no opportunities to level up! That's why this system told me after I woke up that I was an anomaly, because I was supposed to be weak, did I hit the money?
[That's correct.]
I grip my chin as I thought about more possibilities and why I was picked, but suddenly, the system have me a notification that made me flinch.
[Objective: Head over to the Crescentia Central Square for the first act.]
Crescentia Central Square? This system must be crazy; that town is literally full of rich people! I don't want to live with spoiled brats-
I scratch my head while looking at the blue system window contemplatively.
I just decided to go ahead and follow its orders, traversing a deep forest.
I felt a little tingle in my senses at a random time, but I know for sure that my guts never steers me in the wrong direction .
"Who's there?" I stood in a defensive position, not letting my guard down. My eyes scan every single bush in sight looking for potential movement, and eventually I spot one.
The bush rustles ever so slightly, the entity hidden inside it thinking it was sneaky, but it was to no avail because I've got you in my sight.
My eyes dilate as the system window notifies me at a random time.
[You have used your skill: Anomaly's Perspective (SSS).]
What does this do...?
I stood there, still eyeing the bush the entity was in up and down.
[As he stood there, the boar behind the bush pounces on the guy aiming for a blow in the head by charging to his stomach as he let his guard down.]
W-what? This information is flooding my mind as if I were reading a novel. If it really is true, then I'm surely dealing with a wild boar.
I continued to lift my guard up, and as I waited for a slight moment, a wild boar came charging at me.
It vibrated the floor a little with every step it took. As I approached an appropriate distance, the boar charged at me, and I responded by dashing to the right, which aggravated it. As the boar slowed down after accelerating with all its power, I counterattacked by using almost all of my strength in a single strike.
As I dashed at the boar's blind spot, I slashed down using my sword, trying to slice it's neck.
But things didn't go as I had expected. My sword broke the moment it came in contact with the boar's tough skin, making me freeze in shock for a slight second.
"What—huh? Damn it. I guess I'm really still weak after all."
[He looked at the boar in shock as his sword broke to pieces. The boar instantly counters by feinting a charge to the stomach, its true aim biting him in the shoulder, sending him flying and hitting the tree nearby, spitting out blood as he comes in contact.]
Damn it—I have to focus. I'm still the weak me who couldn't even defeat a slime.
I focus closely on the boar; it made a stance that it was about to charge. It really did a feint, opening its mouth ever so slightly. I caught up on this, jumping above to avoid the blow. As I landed, gripping my knees in exhaustion, I panted in frustration as my heart pounded fast.
I barely avoided that blow. I'm already a teenager, and here I am exhausted, losing to a mere boar.
"...I hate this."
I'm really weak, aren't I? Extremely weak.
I stood upright, panting in exhaustion as I faced the sun while sweat poured down my face.
My eyes started to lose their light and became hopeless, really thinking if I was about to die or not.
Just then, I remembered the phrase that person said to me.
"Don't give up."
My eyes glow with a silver aura of determination and sheer will as I smirk and chuckle awkwardly while wiping a bloodstain off my mouth.
"I won't. I'll kill this boar and become stronger. I was just acting stupid earlier," I say as my eyes flare up in a much more focused state.
[Skill obtained! Willpower (B), Focus (B)]
"Come at me. I'll kill you. I've been weak my entire life, so weak that I can't even kill a singular slime, but this time, it'll be different."
[Skill Used: Focus (B) +20 Strength +20 Vision!]
I can see much more clearly than before. Every single one of it's movements, I'll survive-
I dashed in front of the bear as I looked straight in its eyes, gripping my broken sword tightly as I poured everything I had on the tip of my blade.
-and become stronger, strong enough to face these "main characters," this darned system told me.
As I gritted my teeth, I raised my sword. Aiming for the boar's left eye. It couldn't react at all, and it was far too late...
...since I had already stabbed its eye.

"Nice, I leveled up. I guess I've finally taken my first step-
-to become the strongest person in this world."
I thought, while looking at the sky as I did an imaginary fist bump facing the sky, towards the person that appeared in my dream. Then, I covered my eyes to avoid looking at the sun, my morale boosted ever so slightly.
A few days later, as I roamed through the seemingly endless forest, took shelter in small caves, and used boar meat for food, I walked and defeated more boars as I traversed through the forest. The fights are becoming easier and easier as I keep leveling up each time I kill one.
It really feels like I'm in a game or a novel, but probably not, since I'm an anomaly. I'm just having delusions.
Crescentia was extremely far from the village I stayed in earlier. That village was really deep in the forest. I wonder when I'll be able to reach Crescentia.
...
A few hours later.
I found another boar again as I walked through the forest; I killed it instantly in one fell swoop.
"...That's the 31st boar. When will the forest give me new enemies to fight?"

I still haven't gotten any skills since that fight. Do I have to reach that state again to obtain more skills and maybe fight an even stronger monster in this forest?
If so, then I'm excited.
Because I really feel myself getting stronger each time I hunt these guys, it doesn't feel real.
But as I was lost in thought, the system snapped me back into reality with a sudden message, making me flinch.
[You have used your skill: Anomaly's Perspective (SSS).]
Huh, why's this skill getting used randomly? Am I in danger once again?
Even if I'm not, I have to keep my guard up. It might be like that encounter with the boar...
[After a few hours passed, he exited the forest to find a cliff high enough to jump below. He stood on top, mesmerized as he viewed the scenery of Crescentia, the sunset setting an orange tone.]
...never mind; it seems like I'm overthinking.
After I get out of this forest, I'm finally going to see it.
I walked out to the forest and was hit by the pleasant, breathtaking scenery of the capital of Crescentia; it was extremely huge, and the sunset made it all the more stupendous.
So this is Crescentia, huh? What a view.
I chuckled, enjoying the view as I jumped off and landed on a tree. After walking for a few minutes, I had finally made my way to the capital, Crescentia.
...I'm finally here. Now what next, system?
I thought as I stood before its entrance sign, looking at it with awe.
