Amon: The Lowest Tier Disciple of Sanctity Sect

Chapter 56: The Rising Storm

The air was electric, both literally and figuratively. Zhao Wei's grin was wide as he pressed his advantage, lightning sparking around him like a second skin. The crowd was eating it up, chanting his name with the fervor of a storm themselves.

Ying Yue stood still, brushing her shoulder where the lightning had grazed her. Her eyes narrowed, her calm exterior cracking just enough to show the faintest trace of irritation.

"Oh, she's mad now," Hurky muttered beside me, leaning forward. "This is gonna get real."

I nodded, but my eyes stayed fixed on Zhao Wei. He was good better than I'd given him credit for. His movements weren't just powerful; they were calculated. Every strike was deliberate, designed to push Ying Yue into a corner.

Zhao Wei surged forward again, a bolt of lightning trailing behind him. He swung his fist, the energy crackling like thunder. But this time, Ying Yue didn't dodge. Instead, shadows erupted from her feet, coiling around her like a living armor.

The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the arena, but when the dust cleared, Ying Yue was standing firm, her shadows absorbing the brunt of the blow.

Zhao Wei stumbled back, his grin faltering for the first time. "What the"

Ying Yue didn't give him a chance to finish. Her shadows surged forward like a tidal wave, forcing Zhao Wei to retreat. The crowd gasped as she took the offensive, her movements as fluid as water but as deadly as a blade.

"She's shifting the momentum," Hurky said, a hint of awe in his voice.

"Yeah," I murmured, my eyes narrowing. "But Zhao Wei's not done yet."

Sure enough, Zhao Wei rallied, using bursts of wind to create space. His grin returned, though it was more strained now. "So you've got some fight in you after all. Good. Let's see how long you can keep up."

He raised his arms, and a vortex of wind began to form around him. The air grew colder, sharper, as the vortex expanded, pulling debris from the arena floor. The sheer force of it made even the spectators shield their faces.

But Ying Yue didn't flinch. Her shadows twisted and turned, forming a shield around her. The vortex collided with her defense, but instead of breaking, her shadows seemed to absorb the energy, growing darker and more menacing.

"She's using his power against him," Hurky said, his voice almost a whisper.

The next few minutes were a blur of power and precision. Zhao Wei threw everything he had at Ying Yue lightning strikes, wind blades, even a combination of both. But no matter what he did, she countered with an elegance that was almost infuriating.

Still, Zhao Wei wasn't giving up. His stamina was impressive, his strikes growing more desperate but no less powerful. The crowd was on their feet, their cheers a deafening roar.

And then it happened. Zhao Wei feinted to the left, drawing Ying Yue's shadows away, before delivering a lightning-infused kick to her side. She stumbled, her shadows flickering for a moment.

The crowd erupted, and Zhao Wei raised his arms in triumph. "Looks like I've got you figured out, Shadow Lotus!"

Ying Yue straightened, her expression unreadable. "Figured out?" she repeated, her voice cold. "You haven't seen anything yet."

With that, the shadows around her exploded outward, darkening the entire arena. Gasps rippled through the crowd as they were plunged into semi-darkness, the only light coming from Zhao Wei's crackling electricity.
