American Tax Officer

Chapter 270: Governor of California_3

"Alright, let me know once everything is in order, and I'll go talk to Bureau Chief Hanson first to see if we can settle matters with the police department, and then take our time resolving the other issues."

According to the current situation, to arrest the Sackler family, the first hurdle was the Governor of California, followed by the police department.

David also understood what Governor Bogwana meant, which was to use the police department to show that he intended to protect the Sackler family.

So, if David managed to handle the police department, he could similarly demonstrate his stance on arresting the Sackler family while also serving as a warning to Governor Bogwana.

In any case, the plan was to first get the police department in line, and then observe how the situation develops!

...

Two days quietly passed by.

In these two days, major social media platforms were still abuzz with discussions about the IRS and the Sackler family, but few were aware that the Sackler family was now under the protection of the Governor of California.

It wasn't that the media was incompetent.

The main reason seemed to be that the media was being controlled by certain powers, preventing the issue from being widely reported.

As for these powers, they were none other than the Governor together with the Jewish people who controlled the media.

As for David, he wasn't in a hurry; he spent these two days working on the evidence chain against the Sackler family and communicating with the Kennedy Family.

The content of the communication simply concerned asking them to exert some pressure on Governor Bogwana when necessary.

At ten in the morning, Nisen walked into the office and reported, "The evidence against the Sackler family, including witness testimony and all other links in the evidence chain, has been prepared."

"Good, give me the file on Hanson and let's head to the police department!"

The city bureau wasn't far from the city police department, merely a 2-kilometer distance.

However, upon David's arrival, the entire Los Angeles Police Department instantly became tense.

Now that the IRS was set on taking down the Sackler family, and the police department had dispatched a large number of officers to 'protect' the family, a conflict between the two was inevitable.

Thus, for the past two days, everyone at the Los Angeles Police Department was on edge about the IRS showing up, and today, not only had the IRS come knocking, but it was David himself, which only heightened their tension.

"I'd like to see your chief."

"Our chief... he's out on official business."

"Then tell him I'm waiting here for him, and he should come back immediately."

"The chief said he has very important matters to attend to and can't return for a while..."

"Tell him, I don't want to do anything to the police department, but if he really wants to go down this path, I may have no other choice but to take action!"

David's demeanor, imposing without anger and with an undertone of threat, made the reception staff at the police department shiver in fear.

Not daring to delay any further, the receptionist hurriedly turned and left.

About ten minutes passed.

The receptionist came back and said, "Our chief has returned, please follow me, Director David."

The receptionist escorted David to the chief's office door, pushed it open, and inside was Hanson.

Seeing David arrive, Hanson's expression was slightly uneasy, but still, he stood up and extended his hand saying, "Director David, what wind blows you over here today?"

"What do you think?"

Hanson's face stiffened at David's response.

Before he could say anything, David spoke again, "Bureau Chief Hanson, let's not beat around the bush. I think you are very clear about the purpose of my visit here today."

"What purpose is Director David referring to?"

Hanson continued to feign ignorance.

"As far as I know, the Sackler family is at the Governor's Second Official Residence, and you've transferred your men there to provide security. Are you planning to shelter them?"

"No, no, no..."

Hanson quickly waved his hands, explaining, "I was ordered by the Governor, who claimed that there have been threats of terrorist attacks against him recently, which is why I dispatched my men for defense. There's absolutely no intention of sheltering anyone."

"I don't want to talk nonsense with you. Now, you have two options: either pull your men out and don't interfere with our case, or... choose to be my enemy!"

"Director David, you must know it's the Governor's order, and I simply cannot resist. Please don't make my position difficult," Hanson pleaded internally but still didn't cave in.

David didn't waste any further words, reaching into his suit's inner pocket, he pulled out a document and tossed it onto the table.

When Phipps held a dinner in Los Angeles, Hanson had been invited, and David had gone there afterwards to scrutinize him.

However, Hanson, sensing the situation after a few exchanges with David and a sample of his dark secrets being revealed, chose to leave voluntarily.

During these two days, David had also taken the time to compile all of Hanson's dirty laundry, resulting in the document evidence now on the table.

Upon receiving the document, Hanson had a bad feeling, but nonetheless opened it apprehensively. Once he saw the contents, his complexion turned sour.

At the dinner hosted by Phipps, David had hinted at some of his dark secrets, which is why he chose to leave afterwards.

But that was just verbal; it wasn't as impactful as this tangible file now in front of him.

Putting the document back on the table, Hanson shook his head reluctantly and said, "Alright, Director David, I'll call the men back, and I won't interfere with anything else!"

After all, he had previously made it clear to Governor Bogwana.

He absolutely wouldn't oppose David to the death.

Now that David had come to him holding leverage, there was no way Governor Bogwana could blame him any longer!

"Very well, Bureau Chief Hanson."

Having achieved his goal, David didn't linger any longer. He stood up and walked out.
