American Comics: Multiverse of Madness

Chapter 525: 525. Black Adam!

"Well, looks like I don't need to search for him deliberately anymore."

Helplessly watching the battle erupt in the distance, Alex casually tossed the sand in his hand onto the ground.

It made sense, really. Black Adam wasn't the type to sit idle. Having just escaped from the wizard's seal, he was likely struggling to adapt to the massive changes in the world that had occurred.

After all, a thousand years had passed, and this world's technology and way of life had undergone radical transformation. With Black Adam's ancient mind, it would be impossible for him to instantly adjust to modern society.

Moreover, the place was under the control of the Intergang. Given Black Adam's temperament, it was clear he wouldn't show any mercy to these oppressors.

As expected, when Alex arrived at the battlefield, he found that most of the Intergang members had already been turned into corpses, their deaths varied, but many had been struck down by lightning.

At first, the people of Kahndaq were startled by the violence, but once they realized that the targets of the superpowered being were only the Intergang members, their fear quickly dissipated.

There had long been a legend in Kahndaq, telling the story of a hero from ancient times who had resisted oppression and fought back in defiance. This legend had been passed down for many years and was now a symbol of faith for the people of Kahndaq.

At this moment, after having been controlled and oppressed by the Intergang for so long, seeing this figure wielding such immense power, the people naturally drew parallels between him and the hero of their legend.

Walking forward with the cheering crowd, Alex finally saw Black Adam floating in mid-air, holding two members of the Intergang in his hands.

He was a towering figure clad in black, form-fitting armor, with golden armor covering his arms and legs. On his chest, there was a dark golden lightning symbol.

"Shazam's blessing, huh."

Having worked with Billy from the Apokolips War Universe before, Alex was no stranger to the powers of the wizard Shazam. However, sensing the energy emanating from Black Adam, Alex furrowed his brow slightly.

"No, this doesn't seem right. Something's different."

The power of Shazam that Billy possessed had changed over time. It was a great strength bestowed upon him by the gods of Olympus, led by Zeus.

However, the divine power Alex sensed from Black Adam seemed somewhat different. Though both were forms of divine power, there were significant nuances that set them apart.

Take the thunder just released as an example: Zeus's lightning was filled with judgment and divine majesty, while the lightning released by Black Adam was focused on killing and destruction, a far more lethal energy.

Sensing the divine power similar to Khonshu's, Alex smiled thoughtfully.

"So, this is it. The power of the six ancient Egyptian gods, combined to form the Shazam incantation."

The moon god Khonshu might have been Alex's only real knowledge of Egyptian deities, after all, he had crossed paths with Moon Knight and Shadow Knight before.

It made sense, though. In ancient times, Kahndaq was under the influence of Egyptian gods. The people here worshipped these gods, so it wasn't surprising that it was during that era that the wizard Shazam chose a worthy champion.

Watching Black Adam toss two Intergang members into the air to experience free fall, Alex put away his black umbrella, ready to approach him and have a chat.

Clearly, Black Adam had not yet come to terms with the current situation. If he wanted this world from a thousand years ago to accept him, he would need to learn how to adapt to life here.

Otherwise, with his ancient behavior patterns and the immense divine power he wielded, even if he didn't mean to, it would be easy for him to cause unintended collateral damage.

For example, when he killed the Intergang members earlier, the level of destruction was so great that, fortunately, no civilians were injured. Otherwise, the misunderstanding would have escalated quickly.

However, just as Alex was about to reveal himself and approach, a sudden rush of wind tore through the air.

Turning around, he saw a man clad in golden armor soaring toward him. Behind him, a pair of metallic wings flared open, shimmering blindingly in the sunlight.

Just as the two Intergang members were about to hit the ground, this man with metallic wings grabbed them and saved them from a gruesome fate.

"Hawkman?"

"That's a superhero from the Justice Society of America."

"Hero, my foot."

"Stay out of it!"

"This isn't the place for you!"

"Get out of here!"

As soon as this man appeared, the surrounding crowd erupted in anger.

Clearly, since its formation, the Justice Society of America had become well-known worldwide. Upon seeing this being with extraordinary power, the people of Kahndaq quickly recognized him—Hawkman.

However, the people of Kahndaq didn't greet him warmly. In fact, they scoffed at the Justice Society, showing no respect for the organization.

Seeing the overwhelming hostility from the crowd upon his arrival, Hawkman frowned, then raised both arms to signal the people to stay back, and spoke.

"Listen, I know these people are deeply guilty, but they should be judged by the law."

Before he could finish, two bolts of lightning suddenly struck down from the sky, instantly piercing the chests of the two Intergang members Hawkman had just saved.

The terrifying heat immediately reduced their hearts to charcoal, blackened smoke billowing out as they were beyond saving.

Shocked by this scene, Hawkman never expected someone to kill in front of him.

The crowd, on the other hand, cheered even more, with some even giving Hawkman the middle finger, mocking this so-called "hero" of justice.

Clenching his fists, Hawkman abruptly turned his head and looked toward Black Adam, who was slowly descending.

As Hawkman looked at Black Adam, the latter also noticed the "birdman" who had just saved his enemies.

"You don't look like one of the Intergang."

"I'm from the Justice Society, and our goal is to protect world peace and stability. We've come here to restore peace to Kahndaq," Hawkman said, glaring at Black Adam, each word spoken clearly and firmly.

"When necessary, we'll use force."

"Force is always necessary," Black Adam calmly replied, clearly not taking Hawkman's threat seriously.

"Teth-Adam."

At that moment, another voice echoed from the sky. A figure wearing a golden helmet hovered above them, gazing down at Black Adam.

"We know your origins, and we understand your power. This world cannot accommodate you. I'm giving you two choices: surrender or die."

Nice!

On the ground, Alex, who had just tucked his black umbrella behind his back, slammed a fist into his palm.

He wasn't good at much, but stirring the pot was something he excelled at.

Why in the world did they send these two here? Although Alex had expected something like this, he still felt a deep sense of disbelief when Hawkman and Doctor Fate started making their grandiose speeches here.

Hawkman was a prince, and even after being reincarnated for so many years, his nature hadn't changed. His arrogance could be tolerated, but Doctor Fate—was he getting cocky? To speak of surrender or death right off the bat? Who would stand for that?

But it was no surprise, really. After all, Doctor Fate had inherited the powers of the god Nabu. He was naturally disdainful of other gods, and with all the divine power Black Adam possessed, Nabu would certainly be displeased.

It was unclear who exactly was currently in control of Doctor Fate's body, but their tone certainly suggested they'd swallowed something bitter.

As expected, when Black Adam heard Doctor Fate's words, his expression immediately darkened.

"When I died, I was a slave. Now that I've been reborn, I will never submit."

The atmosphere around them immediately grew tense.

The three figures present were all wielders of divine power, and it was clear that another battle of the gods was about to unfold. The people of Kahndaq fell silent, their eyes fixed on the sky.

They believed that their gods could never be defeated. Coupled with their disdain for the Justice Society, they naturally hoped Black Adam would deliver a decisive blow to these two intruders.

However, Alex, observing the situation, couldn't help but laugh in exasperation. Black Adam was one thing, but surely Hawkman and Doctor Fate didn't plan on starting a battle in Kahndaq's city center?

Forget the destruction their fight would cause to the city. The people here already disliked them, and instead of attempting any peaceful dialogue, they were going straight to using force in another country.

How arrogant could they be?

Staring at the unfamiliar figures before him, Black Adam's eyes flickered with murderous intent.

Just as he was about to make a move, a sudden sound of glass shattering reached everyone's ears.

In the dead silence, the sound was unusually distinct, and all three figures on the battlefield heard it clearly.

Turning their heads, they saw a web of cracks suddenly appear in mid-air, resembling crystal, like a huge mirror rising into the sky with fractures spreading across it.

Black Adam frowned. From above, he sensed an extraordinary magical energy.

"What is this?"

Hawkman also sensed that something was wrong, but this didn't seem to be Black Adam's ability, so he quickly turned to Doctor Fate.

"Did you do this?"

Doctor Fate, skilled in illusions and magic, could sense that the shattered mirror was not an illusion but something real.

Hearing Hawkman's question, Doctor Fate shook his head slightly, his voice grave.

"This is not my doing. What strange energy."

Before he could finish speaking, the shattered mirror suddenly came to life. An invisible force seemed to be pushing the fractured mirror, which surged toward the three of them.

Seeing this, the trio immediately reacted.

Doctor Fate raised his hand to conjure a magical shield, trying to use magic to counter magic, while Hawkman used his Nth metal, which could shift and transform, to create a shield, hoping the special metal could resist the incoming energy.

As for Black Adam, he didn't move at all, confident in his indestructible body, so he paid no mind to the approaching mirror.

But what none of them knew was that this mirror was not an offensive magical attack.

When the mirror touched the three of them, the sound of shattering glass rang out once more. Everything around them changed drastically, as if they had stepped into a kaleidoscope, a beautiful and surreal sight.

The strange energy tore open the space, enveloping and consuming them.

When Doctor Fate, Hawkman, and Black Adam finally came to their senses, they found themselves unharmed, and the surroundings appeared unchanged.

The only difference?

The people of Kahndaq had vanished without a trace.
