Alpha Damon’s Greatest Regret

Chapter 10: Chapter 10- Louis

Damon~

I couldn't believe my eyes, she had mutilated herself just to get rid of the mark, I could only imagine the pain that caused her, now all that was left of my mark was an ugly scar.

"What mark Damon," Zarah said, Her voice victorious like she had just won a battle, my eyes widened with disbelief.

"You removed the mark."

"Exactly like the stain that it was." I spat disgust filling her as she spoke "Go to your wife, Damon." She pulled her blouse up covering the scar. "Go be a father to her children.", She had been able to act without thinking about it but her words made me remember Lorelei's betrayal, I was hurt and it showed even though for just a split second she noticed. A grin curved her lips as if she was enjoying my pain.

"Trouble in paradise, it seems. Go to marriage counseling and stop trying to be a father to my son."

"You've made your point." I finally said and took a step back "But this isn't over."

"Oh, it's over," she hissed, taking a step toward me, her eyes blazing. "You've already lost. You just don't know it yet.", I stood still staring at her trying to find any evidence that all this was just an act but I couldn't find anything, this was her, This was Zarah Langdon, No matter how proud I was I had to admit I was the loser in this encounter so I turned on my heel and began walking out the door Signalling for the rest of them to follow, they fixed their eyes on her with hateful glares as we walked out of the house firmly shutting the door behind us. They were silent at least Tom and Kendra were but I could feel Daniel's disapproval for how I handled the situation practically oozing out of him, Tom and Kendra walked back to their SUV while I and Daniel entered ours, we were both seated comfortably Daniel spoke.

"You should have taken her tongue." I stared at him confused for a bit before I answered.

"We're wolves, not salvages."

"You are the Alpha." He said, "No one should talk to the alpha like that without consequences."

"If we were in Howlcreek, I would have made her kneel, but when we are here we are just a couple of humans so we can't act like wolves" I explained but my tone was one of warning, Daniel was never one to take disrespect, that's why I made him my advisor, he was ruthless when he needed to be and he had a quick mind but that wasn't enough to lead a pack.

"I won't hear another word of this, do you understand", His face tightened as he forced the urge to speak before he finally nodded and turned the cat on.

"At least I'm leaving this shithole" He grumbled and began to drive out of the parked spot.

———

The second I stepped back into the building Carlos had walked up to me and had been talking to me since but I hadn't heard a single word he had spoken, my mind had been completely occupied with her, and her words hit me like a tidal wave dragging me deeper and deeper into the depths of despair till unable to breathe and unable to escape till I was snapped out of my thoughts by Carlos who snapped his fingers.

"Are you ok?.", I looked up at him, a worried look plastered across his face.

"Sorry I haven't been listening, my mind is a little preoccupied" I apologized as I pushed myself off my seat and stood up.

"Where is Louis," I asked.

"In the rec room," Carlos answered, I nodded and began to walk out of the room but stopped at the door and looked back at Carlos.

"What were you talking to me about?." I asked.

"Nothing of immediate importance Alpha.", I smiled and walked out of the room heading straight for the rec room where I saw Louis playing with the other children of the pack, my smile grew, even though it wasn't biological he was still my son.

"Louis" I called out, his head snapped in my direction and a happy smile crossed his face.

"Dad!" He shouted happily as he ran towards me, I squatted down and spread my arms as he ran into them, I wrapped my arms around him and twirled around.

"My lil man," I said enjoying the warmness of his company, I could feel the dark cloud that had been hovering over me dissipate with every second I spent in his presence.

"Where's mommy, I miss her," Louis said with a sad look in his eyes, my heart beat with pain as I heard those words, there was nothing I could do about Lorelei leaving, But unlike her, I wasn't ready to abandon him.

"Mommy went on a long trip but she wanted me to tell her she misses you so much it made her heart ache" I lied with a smile on my face, The sad look faded but it didn't go away. Gently, I put him down.

"So how's your Lego city coming" I asked, his eyes beamed with joy as he grabbed hold of my hand and began pulling me to where he was building the Lego city, when we got there the smile on my lips grew, and he wasn't just creating any city, he was recreating Howl creek.

"It's awesome," I said, childlike wonder filling my voice as I spoke.

"You like it?"

"Fuck yeah" I blurted out then immediately closed my mouth and shot a look at him, he stared at me with wide amazed eyes.

"You never heard me say that," I said he nodded but I knew the floodgates had already been opened so I just sat down on the floor and dragged him closer.

"Lil Man, I'm proud of you," I said stretching my palm for a high five, He slapped his palm against mine and then turned back to his creation. After a while of talking with him, I stood up.

"I have a few things I have to handle but I'll see you at dinner lil man," I said as I began to walk away.

"Bye Dad" he waved as I walked out of the room, I saw Carlos sitting on the floor playing with the other children, the smile on his face wide as the children laughed at what they called a funny accent, He looked over to where I was and immediately stopped and stood to his feet.

"Alpha" He greeted.

"Do you need something?" I asked wondering why he was there.

"The enforcers who are watching the borders, one of them came over, He wants an audience" Carlos answered.

"Ohk let's go," I said and we walked out of the rec room straight to my office, we entered and saw a middle-aged man waiting for us, with Greying hair and faded brown eyes, he had a scar on the side of his face that ran down to his neck creating a strong and intimidating air around him, he wore the enforcers uniform but had a badge that indicated he wasn't just a regular one.

"My alpha" he greeted then bent a knee and stood back up.

"Good day," I greeted, judging by the fact he did that instead of just bowing in courtesy I could tell he was a veteran.

"I'm Julian Hagar and I'm afraid I have something bad to report."
