Chapter 10:
Chapter 10: Sir, Your Tea:
Standing still, Lu Chen calmed his mind and focused.
His Qi Sea remained vast and boundless.
Suspended in mid-air, the first page of the Divine Scroll shimmered with golden characters, exuding a gentle radiance…
With just a brief glance, Lu Chen’s heart surged with excitement.
Moments ago, he had been worried that his massive Qi Sea and dantian would slow down his cultivation speed.
After all, spiritual energy was merely an aid—rapid improvement could only be achieved through continuous breakthroughs.
The larger the Qi Sea and dantian, the harder it was to break through.
Yet, the very first page of the Divine Scroll provided direct guidance.
Its contents were a cultivation technique designed to enhance training speed!
Lu Chen was shocked, but at the same time, he realized something.
Reconstructing his meridians had brought an unexpected benefit—
It had unlocked the Divine Scroll!
Focusing his mind, Lu Chen followed the technique’s instructions and began circulating his spiritual energy.
Within his Qi Sea, ripples spread out layer by layer.
For the first time, he felt an unprecedented sense of ease and clarity.
Above him, the golden text kept shifting.
Lu Chen ignored all distractions and focused entirely on absorbing its teachings.
Time passed.
By the time he had fully practiced the first page’s technique, the eastern sky had already begun to brighten.
Dawn had arrived.
Stretching his body, Lu Chen instinctively glanced outside.
Jade Spirit Mountain was unlike other places.
Even in daylight, the sky was only marginally brighter.
There were no chirping birds or buzzing insects—
Only the occasional distant wail, chilling enough to make one’s scalp tingle.
Lu Chen had lived here for hundreds of years and was already used to it.
Xuan Mo also showed no signs of being disturbed, still curled up lazily as if unable to wake.
Lu Chen walked over, picked Xuan Mo up, and gently tapped its head with two fingers.
“I originally planned to stay here for a while longer, but now, I have to leave.”
“We need to find something—only then can we unlock the second page of the Divine Scroll.”
“Would you like to come with me?”
As if understanding his words, Xuan Mo rubbed against Lu Chen’s fingers before turning around and burrowing directly into his sleeve.
Lu Chen smiled, though he couldn’t help but feel a little regretful.
Back when he lost his cultivation, he sealed away all his treasures.
If only he had kept his storage pouch, Xuan Mo wouldn’t have to cram itself into his sleeve.
“For now, you’ll have to endure. I promise to find you a comfortable place soon.”
With that, Lu Chen remained calm and left the cave.
Unlike when he arrived, this time, he reached the foot of Jade Spirit Mountain in just half an hour.
Before him, a dense bamboo forest stood tall and vibrant.
Beyond this natural barrier lay the mortal world—the realm of human affairs.
When he had left the demonic cave, Lu Chen was gravely injured.
Though he later recovered, he had lost the ability to cultivate.
At the time, he never even considered leaving.
He had thought he would spend the rest of his life within the Mystic Spirit Holy Sect.
Yet, life was unpredictable.
The things he had desperately tried to hold onto had slipped away regardless.
Now that he was free of the sect’s shackles, he even found himself longing for ordinary mortal life.
Halfway through the bamboo forest, Lu Chen suddenly stopped.
His cultivation might not be high, but picking a good bamboo staff was still within his ability.
“You’ll do.”
He pointed at a particular bamboo stalk and formed a hand seal with his other hand.
Muttering an incantation under his breath—
Crack!
A crisp sound rang out.
A three-foot-long bamboo staff detached from its stalk and hovered in mid-air without falling.
Lu Chen’s face lit up.
He adjusted his hand seal slightly and murmured—
“Fix.”
The bamboo staff stood upright on the ground.
Its once raw surface now gleamed with an emerald sheen, as if covered in a thin layer of jade.
Lu Chen picked it up and gave it a few swings—
It felt perfectly balanced in his hands.
He smiled again.
Even after not using spells for so long, his techniques remained flawlessly ingrained in his memory.
With renewed confidence, he resumed his journey with a single goal in mind—
Finding the Purple Sage Herb.
Only by acquiring this could he unlock the second page of the Divine Scroll.
The Purple Sage Herb was a rare treasure that greatly enhanced cultivation.
However, it was extremely rare and could only be obtained through luck.
Lu Chen pondered this as he walked.
Before long, he reached the foot of Jade Spirit Mountain.
It had been a hundred years since he last descended the mountain.
Compared to the past, the area below was now much livelier.
Not far ahead, there was a small roadside stall with a simple signboard.
On it, a single word was scrawled in crooked handwriting—
“Tea.”
Lu Chen swallowed.
Strangely, he really did feel a bit thirsty.
As he approached the tea stand, the sleeping attendant suddenly jolted awake.
Even before standing up properly, the man had already begun waving his cloth.
“Welcome, sir! What kind of tea would you like?”
“Anything that can quench my thirst will do.”
Hearing this, the attendant’s eyes narrowed into slits as he grinned.
“If you don’t mind, how about a bowl of Lotus Heart Tea? It cools the body, clears heat, and refreshes the mind.”
Lu Chen nodded.
Looking up, he noticed a lotus pond not far away.
This attendant sure knew how to make the most of local resources.
While the tea was being prepared, Lu Chen took in his surroundings.
The tea stall was simple and somewhat shabby.
A few bamboo poles formed the framework of a tent, and four or five wooden tables were placed under the shade.
Since it wasn’t yet noon, the tea stall was empty, with Lu Chen being its only customer.
Still, he didn’t feel bored.
He quietly examined the bamboo staff in his hands.
Noticing how focused his guest was, the attendant finally brought over the tea.
“Sir, your tea.”
“Thank you.”
Lu Chen picked up the bowl and took a small sip.
The bitterness immediately spread through his throat.
He let out a soft cough and placed the bowl back down.
Across from him, the attendant chuckled.
“Sir, this is your first time trying Lotus Heart Tea, isn’t it?
It’s quite bitter, isn’t it?”
It was bitter—
But not unbearable as the attendant had suggested.
“Life itself is bitter,” Lu Chen said casually.
“Ah! Well said, sir! Compared to the bitterness of life, this tea is nothing!”
The attendant was quite talkative, but his face was honest and sincere.
Lu Chen didn’t mind chatting with him for a while.
But just as he took another sip, a burly man suddenly stomped over, cursing as he walked.
“Ugh! It’s so damn hot today! I’m roasting!”
“Hey, you! Get me your best tea right now!”
“And bring me something to eat while you’re at it!”
Before he even reached the tea stall, the man was already barking orders.
The attendant’s face darkened, and he hesitated before standing up slowly.
“Not him again…” he muttered under his breath.
“He’s been drinking for a whole year without paying a single coin!”
The burly man didn’t catch what he said.
But seeing his reluctance, his temper flared.
BANG!
He kicked over a wooden stool and roared—
“What the hell are you stalling for?! Hurry up, or I’ll split you in half!”
