Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Getting Rich Overnight
"Dad," Zuo Xianyu frowned and asked, "Grandpa never told you anything about Si Fuqing's family?"
Zuo Tianfeng's eyes darkened. "No. I asked a few times, but your grandfather always kept silent. I never thought he'd be so foolish as to give away the family business."
Zuo Xianyu pursed her lips.
Mr. Zuo was a ruthless figure in the business world—so merciless that he had even turned against his former friends. The company had spoken about acquiring assets, yet he had handed Zuo family shares to Si Fuqing.
There had to be something more to it.
—
By the time Si Fuqing finally arrived, it was already eight o'clock in the evening.
She wore her usual exaggerated makeup, complete with heavy eyeshadow.
Zuo Xianyu frowned slightly but still stepped forward to greet her. "Fu Qing, you're here. Traffic is usually bad at this time."
"It wasn't traffic. I just don't have any money, so I walked here. My legs are killing me." Si Fuqing casually sat down on the sofa. "You care about me so much—why don't you give me a leg massage?"
Zuo Xianyu almost lost her composure.
But she had been trained in social etiquette since childhood and had worked at the Zuo Group for three years. Unlike Zuo Qingya, who was easily provoked, she could maintain her calm.
"Housekeeper, bring the new massage device I bought," Zuo Xianyu instructed. "Qingqing is tired. Let her rest."
Si Fuqing leaned back on the sofa as Zuo Xianyu placed the massager on her legs.
Madam Zuo was so furious that her eyes bulged, but she held back her anger for the sake of the inheritance negotiations.
"I called you here today because of your grandfather's will." Zuo Tianfeng's gaze was dark, though his tone remained gentle. "The old man left you 8% of the shares in Yuelan Jewelry and Jingcheng Real Estate. But you know as well as anyone that business isn't your strong suit."
"So, I'll give you five million yuan. You transfer all the shares to me, and if you ever need help in the future, I'll be there for you."
Si Fuqing glanced at the will on the table, the corners of her lips curling into a bright, playful smile.
"Five million?"
She hadn't studied business formally, but she knew exactly how much Yuelan Jewelry and Jingcheng Real Estate were worth.
Five million? Not even 1% of their real value.
"Brother, that's really not very kind of you," a voice interrupted. The Zuo family's second master, Zuo Tianqian, chuckled meaningfully. "Are you taking advantage of Xiao Qing's lack of market knowledge? Yuelan Jewelry alone has a market value of over three billion yuan."
"And if you add 8% of Jingcheng Real Estate's shares, the total is at least ten billion. Aren't you basically getting rich for free?"
Zuo Tianfeng's face darkened. "Zuo Tianqian!"
"How about this, Xiao Qing?" Zuo Tianqian ignored his older brother and smiled. "I'll only take the shares from Jingcheng Real Estate. I'll give you three hundred million. How about that?"
"Three hundred million?" Si Fuqing blinked, looking as if she was naive and easily swayed. She pondered slowly, "That's a lot more than five million… I'll have to think carefully about it."
Zuo Tianfeng's face turned livid.
His original plan was to take back Yuelan Jewelry and the shares for just five million, but Zuo Tianqian had deliberately stepped in to ruin things.
Now, he'd have to pay a much higher price.
Si Fuqing stretched her arms and smiled lazily. "Since Second Uncle is offering so much, then—"
"Two billion!" Zuo Tianfeng gritted his teeth and interrupted her, his expression sinister. "I'll buy both Yuelan Jewelry and Jingcheng Real Estate shares for two billion. Is that price satisfactory?"
At those words, Zuo Tianqian's gaze darkened slightly. He sighed. "Brother is really generous, being able to pull out two billion in liquid funds. I'm ashamed to admit I can't compete."
He had never intended to actually fight for the shares—he only wanted to stir up trouble.
"Two billion, fine." Si Fuqing lifted her gaze slightly and said calmly, "But I have two additional conditions."
Zuo Tianfeng clenched his fists so hard that his gums bled, but he suppressed his anger. "Speak."
"First, I want to see the old man. Second, I want to attend his funeral." Si Fuqing rested her chin on her hands. "Otherwise, no deal."
At her words, the entire Zuo family looked at her in surprise.
Those were the only conditions?
That was it?
Madam Zuo could no longer hold back and began to curse. "You want to attend the funeral? Do you even deserve it? You're not a member of the Zuo family! If you had any self-awareness, you'd—"
"Mom," Zuo Xianyu interrupted, holding Madam Zuo's hand to stop her from saying anything more. "If Fu Qing wants to go, let her."
Madam Zuo's face turned red with rage, her eyes full of resentment.
Not only had Si Fuqing seduced her son, but she had also effortlessly taken two billion.
So shameless!
Zuo Tianfeng, however, had already made up his mind. "Alright."
Si Fuqing nodded, picked up the pen, and just as she was about to sign, she looked up again.
"Where's the money?"
Zuo Tianfeng's forehead veins throbbed, but he forced himself to remain calm. He had an anonymous bank card prepared and handed it over.
Si Fuqing slipped the card into her pocket, then signed her name.
Zuo Tianfeng finally let out a breath of relief.
Two billion for twenty billion—an excellent deal.
"It's late. Stay here tonight," he said, his mood significantly better. "Xianyu will take you to see your grandfather tomorrow night. Also, Yuelan Jewelry recently acquired a mountain—I'll give it to you as a gift. We're family, no need to refuse."
He had another contract brought over and placed it on the table.
Si Fuqing picked it up and raised an eyebrow. "A mine?"
"Yes, a mine." Zuo Tianfeng stared at her. "If we're lucky, this mountain could be worth tens of billions."
"A mine worth billions? I'll take it." Si Fuqing stood up with the contract and smiled. "I hope this is the last time you try to hire me."
After she went upstairs, Madam Zuo's expression twisted into fury. "Zuo Tianfeng, you're crazy! That was our family's property! Why did you just give her two billion?!"
"You think I'd let her take it so easily?" Zuo Tianfeng's eyes darkened. "Just watch—she'll have to cough it all back up soon enough."
As the family continued discussing, the front door suddenly opened, and a figure stumbled inside.
"Dad, Mom, Xianyu."
Zuo Tianfeng frowned at the strong stench of alcohol. "Drinking again, Zonghe?"
"I had a few drinks with some young masters from Sijiu City," Zuo Zonghe muttered. "I heard you were talking about Si Fuqing. Is she here?"
Madam Zuo's expression changed. "Zonghe!"
"Relax, Mom. It's just a joke. I don't care about her." Zuo Zonghe smirked.
Back when Mr. Zuo was alive, he had tried to cozy up to Si Fuqing to get closer to the old man.
Now?
She was worthless.
"Mom, do you have the spare room key?" Zuo Zonghe raised an eyebrow. "She's about to be kicked out of the family anyway. Let me have some fun."
Madam Zuo hesitated for a moment, then handed him the key.
"Don't mess things up," she warned.
"I know, I know," Zuo Zonghe said carelessly. "It's not like she'll kill me."
At two in the morning, Zuo Zonghe staggered upstairs.
He reached Si Fuqing's door, pulled out the spare key, and turned the lock.
