Chapter 501: The Little Town on the Ice Plain
Mark gasped for breath before setting the medicine bowl aside.
"That guy is utterly detestable, daring to collude with outsiders to harm me. Good riddance! Now I won't have to deal with his unpleasantness anymore!"
Anyone who saw the gritted teeth would think Kaylo and Mark were not close as uncle and nephew.
Chen Yu didn't say much and handed over the intelligence he had gathered over the past few days to Mark.
"Mr. Mark, I have documented all the details of the Milore Family here, hoping it could be of use to you."
When Mark took the intelligence, he was immediately stunned. It provided a detailed analysis of everyone, which faction each person belonged to, and when they arrived at the Milore Family, all recorded clearly.
It even specifically listed the spies that had infiltrated the family.
Even as the family head, he probably couldn't describe these people's situations as clearly.
"Mr. Chen, how did you obtain this intelligence?"
Chen Yu didn't explain, simply let out a sigh and stood up.
"Since the elder has woken up, there's nothing more for me to do here! There are some urgent matters to deal with at the Xuanqing Sect, so I can't stay any longer."
Mark suddenly became anxious and quickly jumped out of bed.
"Mr. Chen, I've just come to my senses and haven't had the chance to properly entertain you yet. You can't just leave like this. If word gets out, people will say the Milore Family doesn't know how to treat guests."
Chen Yu chuckled.
"Elder, I really do have urgent matters! With the Childe Family now targeting the Xuanqing Sect and even plotting to destroy other organizations, if I don't return soon, chaos will ensue."
Mark slammed his fist down on the table.
"The Childe Family is going too far! When the Knights of the Round Table were established, they wanted to swallow all our families. Now, they're causing all sorts of trouble again."
"Mr. Chen, I'll say it right now if needed, I can mobilize the full strength of my clan to oppose the Childe Family."
A cunning smile crept over Chen Yu's lips, which was exactly the result he wanted.
"In that case, I'll take this opportunity to thank the elder!"
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Chen Yu left the Milore Family.
As he departed, he also took Polaris and Ma Zhihe with him.
If Polaris's powerful magnetic field were exposed, it could bring her danger.
The Milore Family was currently too preoccupied with their own troubles to protect her, so she had to be placed in the care of the Xuanqing Sect.
Ma Zhihe was a master at forging documents, but keeping him here by force would only waste his talent; taking him back might allow him to come up with something new with Liu Zhongxiang.
Tolengrad is a small city located within the Arctic Circle,
a legendary place purportedly built by the Eskimos.
Over time, many were attracted by its fame, and a mix of different ethnicities ended up settling together, ultimately creating this small city.
Chen Yu and his companions traveled by snowmobile across the ice field for two days and two nights before they arrived there.
"Didn't you say you were going back to the Xuanqing Sect? Why have you come to this small city instead?"
Jin Lingsu's face was full of reproach, as she had been looking forward to seeing what the famed Xuanqing Sect was really like.
Chen Yu sighed lightly, "What's the rush? After I finish up the business here, I will definitely take you there."
The group chatted and laughed as they quickly reached Tolengrad.
This city could be said to have been built upon snow and ice; as soon as one entered through the city gates, they would see a multitude of ice sculptures standing erect there.
Chen Yu had no such interest in admiring the ice sculptures, and he immediately used the system overlay to cover the entire city.
"You all go and look around, I have some things to take care of!"
After dropping this line, he went straight to a shop in the eastern part of the city.
The architecture of this place was slightly out of place, holding a certain Taoist charm.
As soon as Chen Yu walked in, a series of jingling wind chime sounds rang from the side.
The shopkeeper nonchalantly reclined on a lounge chair.
"All items are marked with a price, just leave the money on the table."
This laissez-faire approach to business was indeed an eye-opener.
Chen Yu chuckled lightly and directly walked over to the counter, pulling over a chair to sit down.
"As a Sect Leader of the Xuanqing Sect branch, shouldn't you be out greeting the Grandmasters?"
The shopkeeper took the Taoist scripture off his face and hurriedly put on his glasses. Continue your journey with My Virtual Library Empire
"Oh dear, Sect Leader, what brings you to a place like this?"
Chen Yu chuckled again and pulled out a large pile of tokens from his person.
"What's the matter? Can't I come to such a place?"
Xu Chenguang laughed awkwardly. In this freezing cold place, besides people like him who voluntarily came here, nobody else would.
As he saw the large pile of tokens on the table, his smile immediately vanished from his face.
"Where did you get so many tokens? And they are the core tokens of the major families."
Chen Yu exhaled a breath of turbid air, "Could you help me tidy these up and see if you can replicate them?"
Xu Chenguang showed a troubled expression. The tokens of the major families were made in unique ways and with rare materials; even if one had a sample, they could not be replicated.
The token of the Xuanqing Sect might look like an ordinary wooden plaque, but the material used was the unique thousand-year-old pine and cypress found only on the Xuanqing Sect's mountain.
"Sect Leader, tidying them up is not an issue, but I'm afraid replication is out of the question."
Chen Yu didn't say much more and got up to walk to the nearby shelves.
"It seems life isn't easy for you here, with not even a disciple at hand to help you out."
Xu Chenguang sighed helplessly, "I'm only here to establish a branch for the Xuanqing Sect. The thought of taking in disciples is too much to hope for, given the circumstances!"
When Chen Yu had entered the city, he had already ascertained the situation within.
The largest building in the city was a church, but the deeds performed inside were of the unsavory sort.
At that moment, a young girl around ten years old hurried into the shop.
"Mr. Xu, could you help me prepare a dose of medicine? My mother is unwell again!"
Xu Chenguang didn't ask for details and directly picked up an oilcloth from the nearby shelf, skillfully making up a dose of medicine.
"Little Qin, when you go back, you must tell your mother to stop eating what the church gives out! Otherwise, even the medicine from here will be of no use!"
Tears filled Little Qin's eyes as she lowered her head, her face expressing grievance, and her frail body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"I've said it many times already, but my mother just won't listen. The aunt from our neighbor's home died after consuming that stuff. They insist on saying that it's because she touched the heavens, and that God took her to paradise to enjoy bliss."
