After Being Reborn, I Refuse To Be The Holy Son Of The Sect Anymore

Chapter 57:

Chapter 57:

In the underground ruins, Qin Fei stared at Shadow Phantom lying on the ground.

“Junior Brother, you’ve already killed all the Demonic Sect remnants here. What’s stopping you from dealing with this one? Could it be… you recognize him? Or are you colluding with the remnants of the Demonic Sect?” Xiao Yang exclaimed, feigning a look of shock.

Acting? Who doesn’t know how to act?

“Hmm?” Elder Lei Lie, standing to the side, immediately glared at Qin Fei with suspicion.

The Demonic Sect was the sworn enemy of the entire Northern Territory, and any collusion with its remnants was punishable by death.

With his back to Elder Lei, Qin Fei clenched his fists tightly beneath his sleeves, his nails digging into his palms. His eyes turned red.

The man writhing in pain on the ground was the one who had grown up with him, protecting him since he was a child. Now Xiao Yang was forcing him to kill the person closest to him.

Unforgivable!

To Qin Fei, Shadow Phantom was more than a servant; he was like family. His father, the leader of the Demonic Sect, had many children, including two older brothers. The competition for succession within the sect was ruthless. Without Shadow Phantom’s protection, Qin Fei would have been eliminated long ago.

Ten years ago, it was Shadow Phantom who ensured Qin Fei’s escape from the Abyss. Shadow Phantom was more than a mere companion; he was a part of Qin Fei’s very being.

How could he bear to kill him?

“He’s already crippled. Killing him now would only tarnish the reputation of our righteous sect,” Qin Fei argued, glaring at Xiao Yang with bloodshot eyes.

“Junior Brother, that’s absurd!” Xiao Yang countered, his tone righteous. “Demonic Sect remnants are villains that everyone must eliminate. Just because I destroyed his dantian and crippled his cultivation doesn’t erase his past crimes. His hands are stained with the blood of righteous cultivators—he’s a demon through and through!”

Righteous indignation burned in Xiao Yang’s voice. Memories of the previous life flooded his mind. Qin Fei and Shadow Phantom had wreaked havoc in the Northern Territory, using the Lunar Dragon Pearl to incite chaos. Countless cultivators had died in their schemes, and countless mortals had suffered displacement and misery.

The Northern Territory’s major factions had fallen into internal conflict, while the Demonic Sect thrived on their bloodshed.

Such villains deserved to die a thousand deaths.

“What are you waiting for? Kill him!” Elder Lei roared at Qin Fei.

Rage coursed through Qin Fei’s body, his frame trembling as he suppressed the overwhelming emotions.

Shadow Phantom was not just a servant; he was a partner, a confidant, and the cornerstone of Qin Fei’s plans. Together, they had envisioned a future where they would use the Lunar Dragon Pearl to disrupt the Northern Territory, unlock the Abyss Seal, and ascend to supreme dominance in the Demonic Dao.

None of it had come to fruition yet.

Xiao Yang’s interference was forcing him into an impossible situation.

Did Xiao Yang know his true identity?

Qin Fei didn’t think so. To him, Xiao Yang’s actions were just another attempt to target him out of petty jealousy. After all, he had been meticulous in hiding his identity over the past ten years.

“I…” Qin Fei hesitated, his mind in turmoil.

“Finish it quickly! Or do you truly collude with these remnants?” Elder Lei pressed, his piercing gaze drilling into Qin Fei.

“Give… give me a quick death…” Shadow Phantom gasped, clawing at Qin Fei’s robe with trembling fingers.

No! Qin Fei screamed internally.

He couldn’t even show a hint of sadness or hesitation. His expression had to remain neutral.

“Do it… please… put me out of my misery,” Shadow Phantom begged, lifting his bloodshot eyes to meet Qin Fei’s. The pain of his shattered dantian was unbearable, his body trembling uncontrollably as violent energy wreaked havoc on his meridians.

To Qin Fei, Shadow Phantom’s death would mean losing his closest ally, his shield, and his shadow.

“Junior Brother, don’t tell me you’re reluctant. He’s not your family—he’s an irredeemable demon, deserving of death,” Xiao Yang taunted, enjoying every moment of Qin Fei’s torment.

Qin Fei’s anger erupted. “Shut up!” he roared at Xiao Yang.

“Qin Fei!” Elder Lei’s voice boomed, echoing through the chamber and leaving Qin Fei no room for hesitation.

“Kill!” Qin Fei shouted, his voice trembling as he raised his hand and brought it down on Shadow Phantom’s head.

A sickening crack echoed through the chamber as Shadow Phantom’s skull caved in. Blood trickled from his seven orifices, and his lifeless body slumped to the ground.

Xiao Yang watched coldly, his expression unreadable.

“Well done,” Elder Lei said approvingly. “For this, the sect will reward you handsomely. Remember, never show mercy to these demons.”

“Yes, Elder,” Qin Fei replied, his voice hollow. He bowed respectfully, but his shaking hands betrayed the fury and anguish he was suppressing.

Xiao Yang smirked, his heart brimming with satisfaction. The pain of killing one’s closest ally—let Qin Fei savor it.

In their previous life, Qin Fei and Shadow Phantom had caused untold suffering. This was just the beginning of Xiao Yang’s retribution.

“Junior Brother, congratulations on your great contribution right after descending the mountain,” Xiao Yang said with a wide grin, his glee evident.

Qin Fei’s jaw tightened as he glared at Xiao Yang, his bloodshot eyes filled with seething hatred.

Just then, a voice called out urgently.

“Junior Brother, where are you?” Jiang Ting’s anxious tone rang out.

“Hmm?” Xiao Yang turned to see Qin Fei pulling out a small mirror.

“Junior Brother, you’re injured. You shouldn’t be wandering around. Please, take care of yourself,” Jiang Ting’s worried face appeared in the mirror.

“The Void Mirror?” Xiao Yang’s face darkened.

It was a treasured item he had once gifted Jiang Ting. Yet now it was in Qin Fei’s possession. She must have given it to him.

“Don’t worry, Senior Sister. I’m with Senior Brother Xiao Yang right now,” Qin Fei replied, casting a taunting glance at Xiao Yang.

“Senior Brother Xiao Yang? Why would you two be together?” Jiang Ting sounded puzzled.

“Let’s head out,” Elder Lei interrupted, glancing at the two before striding away.

“I’ll explain later, Senior Sister,” Qin Fei said, ending the connection on the Void Mirror.

“This treasure is truly convenient,” Qin Fei remarked, holding up the mirror. “Senior Sister told me it was a gift from you, Senior Brother. How thoughtful of you to pass on such a useful item to her… and then to me.”

Qin Fei’s smug grin burned into Xiao Yang’s heart like a searing flame.

Xiao Yang’s fists clenched tightly. This wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
