Chapter 83: [83] Nuclear Crisis & World Panic

Washington DC, White House.

Two hours after Black King Shaw became the President of the Soviet Union, Raven unexpectedly held a press conference.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Raven began, her expression solemn and voice steady, addressing the gathered media.

"Just now, we received some unfortunate news. Soviet President Black King Shaw has signed a presidential document authorizing the full deployment of nuclear weapons.

Gentlemen, I can tell you responsibly: nuclear war is about to begin. As the President of America, I am issuing a presidential decree to announce that America's 8,000 nuclear warheads will enter the countdown to activation."

Raven's bold announcement caused shockwaves across the globe. People everywhere began to question whether the President of America had lost her sanity.

Critics were quick to dismiss her claims. Many argued: How could such an event possibly happen?

To some, the notion of the Soviet Union initiating a full-scale deployment of its nearly 8,000 nuclear warheads sounded absurd. Such an act would undoubtedly result in catastrophic consequences for the entire world.

Despite Raven's urgent tone, leaders from other nations dismissed the announcement.

They believed Raven was using America's nuclear arsenal as a means of nuclear deterrence against Soviet President Black King Shaw.

However, what happened next sent shockwaves through the entire world and plunged everyone into panic.

Four hours after Black King Shaw was inaugurated as President of the Soviet Union, all nuclear-armed countries detected a chilling development: the Soviet Union's nuclear warheads were being activated.

The realization hit like a thunderbolt.

The President of America hadn't been exaggerating or lying. The Soviet Union had indeed activated its entire nuclear arsenal.

In military bases across the globe, detection radars lit up with clusters of red dots, each one representing an active nuclear warhead.

This triggered immediate alarm and panic worldwide.

Over the next hour, the situation only worsened.

Nuclear explosion warnings blared across the globe, their piercing alarms heard by billions.

In response to the Soviet Union's aggressive actions, every nuclear-armed country began issuing public statements, announcing countermeasures. Their own nuclear arsenals were being fully activated in preparation for a potential retaliatory strike.

Military radar systems were overwhelmed with activity. On the screens, countless red dots now filled the displays.

The total number of nuclear weapons across all nations exceeds 16,000.

Such an immense stockpile of nuclear bombs is more than sufficient to obliterate the Earth many times over.

The world once again teeters on the edge of annihilation.

Humanity is gripped by panic. The piercing blare of nuclear warning alarms only deepens the fear.

"Oh God, is this the end of the world?"

"Someone, please save us!"

At this moment, all the people of the world can do is pray—pray that this is all some terrible mistake or a false alarm.

However, the Red Square Declaration that followed crushed any hope of peace and made it clear that nuclear war was unavoidable.

In Red Square, Moscow, Black King Shaw stood confidently at the podium, arms outstretched as if to embrace the entire world.

"Humanity has stockpiled over 16,000 nuclear bombs," he declared, his voice ringing out across the square. "How ironic! For years, I thought the Soviet Union's arsenal alone wasn't enough to blanket the Earth. But now, as war looms, every nuclear power will unleash its weapons together.

"When that moment comes, the entire human race will finally achieve evolution and step into a new era."

Shaw's eyes gleamed with ambition as he smiled coldly.

"Now, let us bask in the final glory of humankind together.

X-Men... don't you want to stop me?"

"Don't you claim to be the embodiment of justice? Are you not the superheroes of humanity?"

Black King Shaw stood with unwavering confidence as he addressed the world.

"As the creator of a new world, I, Black King Shaw, will give you 10 hours. X-Men, heroes of mankind, use this time to make your final struggle. In the end, I will show you that I, Black King Shaw, am invincible."

Behind him, a massive digital countdown for the nuclear launch loomed over Red Square. The timer ticked down from 10 hours, signaling that once it reached zero, the nuclear onslaught would be irreversible.

With this dramatic announcement, Black King Shaw directly called out the X-Men, inviting them to try to stop him.

As his declaration spread across the globe, panic-stricken citizens everywhere turned their desperate attention to the X-Men.

The hopes of humanity rested solely on them.

People prayed and hoped that the X-Men, like the superheroes from their comic books, would rise to the occasion and thwart Black King Shaw's apocalyptic plan.

Meanwhile, at the White House in America, Brian, a prominent member of the X-Men, addressed the global audience with equal resolve.

"Black King Shaw seeks to devastate the world with nuclear fire. The nuclear crisis is upon us, and the world stands on the brink of annihilation.

"But know this—at humanity's hour of greatest peril, the X-Men will not falter. For the sake of every man, woman, and child, we will stand against the evil of Black King Shaw.

"We will fight for justice. We will fight until our very last breath."

"We will use our own lives to fight for the dawn of hope for humanity.

We will spare no effort to stop Black King Shaw's conspiracy.

We will not stop, even in the face of death.

My heart and my actions are as clear as a mirror.

Everything I do is just.

May God be with the X-Men.

May humanity stand united with the X-Men."

Brian's words were calm yet powerful. Clad in his Homelander battle suit, he appeared as the beacon of hope humanity so desperately needed in this time of crisis.

Hearing the X-Men's declaration, the panicked masses began to cheer for them spontaneously.

In moments of false peace, support might be hollow, but in the darkest hours, it becomes fervent.

Faced with the global nuclear crisis, humanity had only one glimmer of salvation left: the X-Men.

People worldwide began to pray for the X-Men's success.

At the same time, countless individuals became devoted fans of the superhero team.

In their hearts, the X-Men were no longer just Mutants—they were the saviors of mankind.

They were the real superheroes.

They would surely defeat the evil Black King Shaw's conspiracy to destroy the world.

While the world was panicking over the nuclear explosion crisis, in the presidential office of the White House, Brian was leisurely sipping a glass of milk.

"The milk is a little cold," Brian remarked, frowning slightly as he took a sip.

Because of his earlier speech, the milk had cooled, and Brian wasn't accustomed to drinking cold milk.

His eyes glowed red, and a controlled laser beam heated the milk bottle.

Under his precise control, the milk quickly became warm.

Satisfied, Brian retracted his laser and took another sip, enjoying it this time.

He could have used the microwave heating ability he had recently acquired to warm the milk, but instead, he decided to imitate a famous scene where Homelander used his heat vision to warm milk.

It was a small act of indulgence for Brian.

"Brian, are you seriously using that to heat milk?"

Professor X, standing nearby, couldn't hold back his incredulity any longer.

Seeing Brian casually using his heat vision in such a frivolous manner left him momentarily speechless.
