Chapter 158 Xiao Buli's Excellent Plan_2
The more reckless he became, the less daring Ouyang was to confront him directly. Watching Xiao Buli's retreating figure, Ouyang's expression fluctuated between clarity and cloudiness. Suddenly, he called out, "What if I told you the truth about this game? Don't you want to know?"
Xiao Buli immediately stopped in his tracks, a cold smile flashing across his face as he turned away from Ouyang, but when he turned around, his expression morphed into one of suspicion. "You really plan to tell me? But you're not going to trick me again, are you?"
Ouyang spoke very sincerely, "I swear that this time I'm telling the absolute truth, but this really isn't the place to talk. Let's go upstairs and discuss it there."
After hesitating for a moment, Xiao Buli nodded, "Alright, I'll trust you one more time."
A hint of joy appeared on Ouyang's face, thinking to himself that he had finally managed to retain a powerful enforcer and his trip hadn't been in vain.
"Then let's go straight to the top floor. The boss is waiting for us there."
Xiao Buli snorted coldly, "Is it Liu Zijian?"
"Not him, the boss now is Dugu Han," Ouyang replied.
Dugu Han was puzzled about how things had turned into this mess.
Just over ten minutes ago, when his men told him that two members of White Tiger Group requested to see him, he didn't find anything odd, even getting annoyed that they had interrupted his affair with the female secretary. But when he saw the two men covered in blood, his heart sank, and he was dumbfounded after questioning them.
(Li Jian has gone mad? What on earth happened?)
He hurriedly turned on the monitors, only to witness a scene that made his scalp tingle. Hordes of the Demon Clan poured into the stairwells, occupying the building floor by floor. These creatures, appearing out of nowhere, slew and slashed at anyone they saw. As he switched through dozens of screens, he saw either the Demon Clan chasing humans or panicked corporate staff fleeing.
Then he witnessed the scene of Li Jian, evidently insane, and plainly under the control of the Demon Clan.
Although he could use his powers from the game in the real world, he was uncertain of the true extent of his "Strength." Seeing the demonized Li Jian, he felt a bit frightened and urgently tried to call Liu Zijian, but the phone wouldn't connect, only hissing with static.
Fortunately, Li Jian's rampage was swiftly halted. Xiao Buli made his appearance, and though Dugu Han didn't remember much about him, he was shocked to find that Xiao could also use the game's powers in real life. It seemed that it wasn't only him; others had this ability as well. It wasn't until Li Jian was killed by Xiao Buli that Dugu Han breathed a sigh of relief.
Since the monitors only showed images without sound, he didn't know exactly what had happened there but could tell that Xiao Buli was about to leave, along with the three people accompanying him. Hesitating for a moment, Dugu Han immediately had Ouyang go down to find Xiao Buli, as well as all other scattered combatants, to gather them in the hall on the top floor.
Dugu Han thought to himself that at a time like this, the more people, the better. Explore hidden tales at My Virtual Library Empire
The elevator rose slowly. It was Xiao Buli's first visit to the company's top floor, and he hadn't expected to encounter such a scene. As soon as the elevator doors opened, a wave of clamor immediately filled his ears. Walking into the top floor hall, Xiao Buli found it packed with people, as disorderly as a vegetable market.
Most members of the Pioneer Corps were there, chatting in the middle of the hall without inhibition. The Xuanwu Group's folks were also present, each looking somewhat panicked. A few from Vermilion Bird Group were whispering in a corner. And of course, there were over a dozen black-suited, armed guards.
They secured the entrances to the stairs and elevator, with others stationed at each corner, but Zhang Yaoyang, Bai Yunfei, and Liu Xing were nowhere to be seen; nor were Qin Shimoon and Liu Zijian.
While considering the current situation, Xiao Buli glanced back at Ouyang, who whispered, "The boss will come out and explain everything soon, just wait a little longer."
Xiao Buli nodded and walked towards where the Pioneer Corps had gathered.
"Hey Old Xiao, are you okay? What the hell happened? Why did they hurry us up here? I heard there are monsters all over the building now, all from the game. Can that be true? That's too far-fetched," Liu Xing asked, both nervous and excited.
Xiao Buli nodded, "I just killed one. What do you think—real or fake?"
The notion of game monsters going on a killing spree in reality was unprecedented for everyone. They discussed it in hushed tones, emotions of panic and tension mingling with a hint of excitement and thrill.
It seemed they all realized something fantastical was happening in the building, despite not understanding exactly what, and they discussed, guessed, and also fearfully anticipated what was to come.
With the suited guards stationed at the elevator and stairway entrances, Dugu Han felt a little safer sitting in his office. He thought he needed a handy weapon and casually picked up the decorative katana from his office desk.
