Absolute Death Game

Chapter 155 Rage of Chiyou

"Hey, Senior Xiao, why didn't your colleague come in today?" Situ Yu looked at Xiao Buli, her curiosity piqued. After waiting for a while without getting an answer, Situ Yu suddenly noticed Xiao Buli gazing intently at the entrance of the area for new recruits.

"What's going on?" Situ Yu asked in confusion.

"Nothing much, just waiting for some things," Xiao Buli replied nonchalantly, but his eyes betrayed an anticipation for something.

Situ Yu was about to ask more when suddenly, faint cries for help came from outside.

"Help, someone's been murdered!" Li Baocheng yelled as he sprinted for his life, feeling like he'd never run so fast before. Just now, taking advantage of the moment when others momentarily held back Li Jian's advance, he had seized the chance to rush out of the White Tiger Group's computer room, and, dizzy with panic, he headed toward the manager's office.

On pushing the door, he found it locked, and banging on it a few times provoked no response.

Damn it, just when I need him, he's not here. Right, to the Green Dragon Group! He ran towards the Green Dragon Group, kicked open a door—no one, kicked open another door—still no one.

"Damn, where has everyone in the company gone?" Li Baocheng wanted to cry, but couldn't. When he once again returned to the break room, screams from the White Tiger Group's computer room could be faintly heard. He panicked, his mind reeling, only thinking about finding someone to help.

(That's right, the new recruits!) Li Baocheng finally remembered and turned to run towards the new recruits' area. He kicked open the door of the new recruits' area, and Xiao Buli looked up, stirred by Li Baocheng's entrance.

"Why are you here? What's all that shouting outside?"

"Hurry up, that Li Jian, he's, he's gone mad!" Li Baocheng shouted breathlessly. Xiao Buli suddenly felt a surge of excitement—clearly, the Demon Clan's invasion had begun.

"I'm on it!" He turned to glance at the new recruits and ordered sternly, "Everyone, get in the elevator now! If you don't want to die, leave the building immediately!" Without waiting to see if they complied, he grabbed Li Baocheng by the collar and dragged him out.

The new recruits looked at each other in shock for a moment, then, in panic, they stood and ran towards the exit. Situ Yu felt a mix of excitement and confusion. She hesitated but followed them. Intuitively sensing that something significant had happened, which might be related to the cases she was investigating, she decided to be safe and drew a pistol she had secretly brought with her.

"No, don't, Old Li, I am—ah!" A dying scream caused Situ Yu's heart to tremble, and she immediately stopped in her tracks. The cry was so piercing that it instilled a flicker of unease in her heart.

The new recruits were all blocked at the entrance to the break room. Situ Yu gripped the gun tightly, the cold barrel providing a sense of security. She calmed herself, gritted her teeth, and began to move forward again.

At the intersection in front of the break room, Li Jian stood bloodied, holding a giant axe, as he pulled the blade from the bifurcated body of someone who appeared to have escaped from the White Tiger Group's computer room, but still met a fatal end. The path from the break room to the White Tiger Group was covered in blood traces.

Li Jian turned to look at Xiao Buli and the new recruits behind him, an evil smile playing on his lips. His sunglasses had been discarded, revealing a pair of unusual purple eyes emitting a strange glow.

The new recruits had never seen such a scene and were petrified.

Xiao Buli hadn't expected to encounter this but sighed as he looked back at the new recruits. This was no time to retreat.

Reaching into the air, he gripped a transparent crystal-like sword that materialized in his hand.

This move shocked the new recruits behind him, especially Situ Yu, whose mind reeled with the implications. Could it be that Yaoyao was telling the truth? But how could that be possible? Her mind was in chaos until Xiao Buli grabbed her wrist, snapping her back to reality.

"Take them downstairs; I'll hold him off," Xiao Buli said. On instinct, Situ Yu nodded and led the new recruits towards the elevator. Xiao Buli stood sideways, cautiously placing himself between Li Jian and the new recruits. Li Jian, however, showed no intent to pursue the escapees, but instead began to laugh.

"It's futile. They might escape today but not tomorrow. The Demon Clan will eventually rule this world! Just give up struggling. Join the Demon Clan, and you will gain unparalleled power."

Xiao Buli scoffed disdainfully, "With those weaklings? Hah, I don't think so, and besides, is the Demon Clan something you can just join on a whim?"

Li Jian nodded, "Naturally. The Demon Clan is not of only one kind; any species, any creature willing to submit to the will of the Abyssal Lord, will become a member of the Demon Clan, including you and me."

Xiao Buli was stunned. He had heard for the first time that the Demon Clan was not one race, but then again, thinking about it, the demons he had encountered indeed did not all look the same. Yet, who was this Abyssal Lord? Enjoy exclusive adventures from My Virtual Library Empire

"Sorry, but I'm not interested in being brainwashed. What's the difference between that and being dead?"

Li Jian sighed, "What a shame; I was actually thinking of having you as my partner. Since you foolishly wish to resist such power, then embrace your fate with death."

Xiao Buli was amused by Li Jian's tone, "Old Li, can't you speak normally after demonizing? What's with the NPC accent?"

Li Jian responded with a laugh instead of anger, swung his Demonic Flame Giant Axe fiercely, and in the next moment, both of them charged at each other.

As their axe and sword met, the sound of clashing blades rang through the air. After a few exchanges, Xiao Buli inwardly cursed his misfortune. His strength was no longer in the same league as Li Jian's. Li Jian had always been stronger than him, and after demonizing, the gap widened even more. Within a short span of rounds, Xiao Buli found himself on the defensive.

In haste, he switched from Gale Sword Skills to Tai Chi Sword Skills, managing to fend off the attacks for a while. However, his longsword became increasingly heavy as Li Jian's strikes, filled with endless strength, made redirecting them harder and harder. Eventually, with a loud bang, the Ethereal Sword was knocked flying out of his grip.

Xiao Buli quickly executed Shadow Clone, retreating swiftly backwards while a mirrored image of him, connected to his movements, didn't retreat but advanced, charging at Li Jian.

Seizing the moment Li Jian was distracted by the illusion, Xiao Buli made a swift escape and summoned a new Ethereal Sword.

"Heh, looks like I've underestimated you, you do have some tricks up your sleeve," said Li Jian with a cold laugh when he realized he had struck only an image.

"What I have is more than just a couple of tricks."

Xiao Buli raised his longsword high and swung it down with force — Mysterious Ice Slash!

A crescent-shaped white Sword Qi slashed out fiercely, but Li Jian casually waved it away, shattering the Sword Qi in mid-air. The black Demonic Flame on his giant axe grew even more intense; it was clearly no ordinary weapon.

Xiao Buli attacked again with another Sword Qi Slash, and Li Jian broke it once more, taking another step forward.

Palm Thunder! A ball of lightning gathered in Xiao Buli's hand. "Take this, Sith Lightning!" he shouted, blasting it towards Li Jian.

But Li Jian kept to his routine, raising his giant axe and completely absorbing the power of the lightning.

"Still need to hypnotize yourself to activate your skills? Seems you're not as smart as I thought," said Li Jian, stepping forward again. "But no matter. Join the Demon Clan, and you can use these supernatural powers anytime, anywhere. I'll give you one last chance."

Xiao Buli answered him with action—

Ultimate Skill—Wind Rolls The Scattered Clouds! He leaned over his sword, suddenly adopting the stance of drawing his blade, and in the next second, a magnificent sword light bloomed like a resplendent white lotus.

Li Jian sighed, and the blade of his axe started spinning as well.

Ultimate Skill—Endless Whirlwind!

A black and a white whirlwind collided instantaneously, the white one coming to an abrupt halt. Xiao Buli got sent flying by that force, the Ethereal Sword slipping from his hand again.

(A head-on collision is definitely not the way to do it. Time to escape.) Xiao Buli thought as he felt a sense of oppression in his chest and a trickle of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. As he watched Li Jian, dragging his axe, slowly approaching, and just as Xiao Buli struggled to get up, intending to execute Fleeting Light and Shadow to escape, a fierce cry suddenly came from behind.

"Don't move! Stay right there!" Xiao Buli turned to look and saw Situ Yu, who had returned at some unknown time, holding a small handgun with its barrel aimed straight at Li Jian.

Li Jian gave a disdainful smile but did not stop, continuing to walk towards them.

"Stay where you are!" Situ Yu shouted again, her hand trembling involuntarily with the gun. Until now, she had never fired at a real person.

(Just shoot, you idiot!) Situ Yu thought to herself intensely, and with a bang, she finally pulled the trigger.

At such a close range, the bullet easily hit Li Jian's arm. Li Jian looked at his bleeding wound and showed a cruel smile, "So this is what it feels like to be shot? I appreciate the lesson. But now, it's my turn." He raised his giant axe, looking completely unharmed, preparing to bring it down with a slash.

It was over. Situ Yu felt a deep sense of despair when suddenly, a figure appeared behind Li Jian out of nowhere—it was Yaoyao! With a slicing sound, Yaoyao executed a fierce Backstab, stabbing directly into Li Jian's back.

The attack made Li Jian scream. He turned and swung his axe in a Cross Slash, but Yaoyao performed several backflips in succession, agilely avoiding the strike and landing ten meters away. The dagger in her hand dripped with blood, yet her face bore no trace of fear, her expression cool and confident as she faced off with Li Jian.

Witnessing this made Situ Yu feel ashamed; compared to the pickpocket she had once caught, she, a police officer, had seemed too vulnerable just moments before. (To be continued.
