A Shadow's Reincarnation

Chapter 18: Intelligent Vending Machine

'Aaah, that was a nice bath!' Blake marveled as he made his way to the next floor.

Floor 26, Malkai's Recreation Hall

"A recreation hall? How big is the hall?" Taking a peek from the floor's entrance, Blake was once again stupefied by the floor's design.

When he poked his head out to take a look, Blake was stunned to find that he had entered a night market. He never imagined that Malkai's recreation hall was an actual remake of several night markets from various countries of Earth pieced together as a dungeon floor. Blake was beginning to think that the next several floors had to be more cultural references from Earth.

There were clothing stalls and food carts lining every street. After walking through several food streets, Blake had finally found the entertainment district.

"Woah, Malkai really went ham at designing his tomb. There's a food & beverage street every two entertainment streets and three shopping streets. So, are there monsters here or is this a safe zone?"

Looking around, Blake couldn't sense nor see any other intelligent beings here. No monsters, no demon beasts, no demons either. Floor 25 was indeed a safe zone.

After confirming that there was no other life here, Blake walked to a nearby coffee shop at the floor's center. Within the coffee shop, there was a counter, a bar, some tables and chairs as well. But since there was nobody to manage them, Malkai had set up vending machines that spit out coffee and other drinks.

Blake walked over to one of the vending machines, inserted a coin shaped rock then pressed the cola button. The vending machine buzzed and shook before a cola can appeared at the bottom. But before Blake could pick it up, the vending machine buzzed again before it shot out a blast of light at Blake.

Thankfully, Blake was quick to react. He quickly jumped backwards as he raised his arms in an attempt to shield the blast. The blast of light touched upon Blake before sending him flying into a wall. But because he was already in mid air, the force of the blast and the impact wasn't very hard.

"Ow!" He groaned.

As he got up to dust himself off, a string of text suddenly appeared before Blake. "You dare cheat for a mere drink? Was there no treasure in the previous floors that you had to use a fake coin? How can you cheat when I've already given away so much?!"

"What the?" Blake was dumbfounded at the sudden message appearing on the vending machine. "Malkai even made an intelligent vending machine? How much time did he have before he died? Screw it, I'll beat him up when I return to Elysium next time."

(Fun fact: Blake's neighbor in Elysium was in fact the infamous Undead Shadow God, Malkai. Malkai was also a genius dungeon maker who had made half the universes' dungeons. Most of his dungeons had artificial intelligence integrated into them with the intention of withholding gods. Malkai has successfully trapped 120 godly beings within his dungeons...Be it a plant, an animal, an intelligent being or inanimate objects, he has trapped them all!

As to how he managed to enter Elysium after insulting so many godly beings? Let's just say...the True God of Justice, Basara had given Malkai a green pass in return for integrating artificial intelligence into something, presumably a lifelike android of his dead wife.)

He wanted to vent his anger on something and the vending machine was the perfect choice. Blake then proceeded to cast various spells against the vending machine since that vending machine was also fitted with a barrier. "[Shock Palm]! [Grip of the Earth]! [Wind Cutter]! [Fire Dragon Breath]!...."

5 hours later...

The vending machine remained unscathed whereas Blake had already collapsed from Mana deficiency. The café was also unscathed since the building was enhanced with [Explosion Resistance], [Fire Resistance], [Corrosion Resistance] & [Material Regeneration]. Malkai was already an old ass Shadow God when he mastered the art of dungeon making a long time ago, so it would be weird if any of the buildings in Malkai's Tomb could be destroyed with low level spells casted by a Magic Grandmaster.

Blake was panting hard for another hour before he slowly got back up. He then proceeded to leave the café and proceeded to go shopping. Yeah, shopping in a dungeon. It was not a common occurrence for anyone to shop in a dungeon, and no, those normal safe zones in other fantasy stories usually do not have a large catalog of choices, just the necessities.

Not only does floor 26 have various food and beverage stalls, they also have several general stores, markets, weapon shops and pharmacies. Basically it had every fantasy store you could possibly think of in floor 26, and since there were no one operating these stores, all of the browsing, buying and selling procedures were done through their shops' menu interface.

Blake was taken aback when he found out that every weapon store had only 10 pages of weapons to choose from. Page 1 had swords, page 2 had bows, and page 3 had spears etc. Besides that, each weapon store here only produces one type of element.

Like for example, the swords found in Bumblebeast Weapon Emporium's weapon catalog only had the wind element; the polearms found in Aryani Studio's weapon catalog had the space element only etc...Then again, a polearm infused with the space element can be considered good. Imagine thrusting your polearm through Space and it appears 100 meters away right into your opponent's face. Space attributed weapons are pretty fucking overpowered.

Anyways, Blake only browsed through the weapon catalogs before he moved down the street to the alchemy district.

"Dragon Grass? Yin Yang Mushroom? Blue Emerald Spring Onion? And they are only 5 silver a pop?! Holy hell, Malkai was too damn rich! To think that he could outright sell these high grade herbs for such low prices! Are all stores selling high grade herbs? Fuck my savings, I'm buying them all!" Blake then proceeded to clear out all of the medicine shops' stock before he decided to return to the café to sort out his inventory.
