Chapter 8:
Chapter 8: Shen Anyu’s Surprise!
Su Wanqing never could’ve imagined that her well-behaved daughter would be standing at the front door, wrapped in the arms of a stranger.
Her vision went black—she nearly fainted on the spot.
But she quickly regained composure. Her sharp eyes, behind the lenses of gold-rimmed glasses, became razor-sharp as she coldly glanced at both Shen Anyu and Su Hongmian like a blade.
At this moment, Su Hongmian was already frozen in terror. Her mind had gone completely blank, her limbs stiff, like a startled quail huddled trembling in Shen Anyu’s arms—both in awe and fear of her mother.
Shen Anyu, on the other hand, remained calm and composed. He gently held Su Hongmian, patting her shoulder in comfort.
Then, with his signature warm smile, he looked at Su Wanqing and politely greeted her, “Good evening, Auntie. I’m Shen Anyu, Hongmian’s boyfriend. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Su Wanqing’s expression eased slightly. She gave Su Hongmian a glare, then offered Shen Anyu a courteous smile and said, “Come inside. We need to talk.”
With that, she turned and walked back into the villa, clearly giving them time to prepare themselves.
“Don’t be scared. I’m here,” Shen Anyu whispered softly into Su Hongmian’s ear, his tone full of warmth.
Feeling his breath against her ear, Su Hongmian blushed deeply. She shot him a glare and muttered, “If we can’t get through this, I’m going to beat you to death.”
She flashed her pearly white teeth as if trying to bite him.
Shen Anyu chuckled with a faint smirk. “Beat me? I’d welcome it.”
Soon after, Shen Anyu and Su Hongmian sat down on the sofa in the living room. In front of them was a small table with three cups of premium Longjing tea. Steam curled upward, filling the air with a refreshing aroma.
Su Hongmian sat upright like a proper lady, the picture of grace and elegance.
Shen Anyu, on the other hand, picked up a cup of tea and took a slow sip with a relaxed smile. “Excellent tea.”
Across from him, Su Wanqing maintained her polite expression. But behind her gold-rimmed glasses, her sharp gaze never left Shen Anyu.
“The way a person treats tea reflects their character. Someone who can remain calm and composed in such a situation, enjoying tea at leisure, is certainly not an ordinary person.”
“A man of inner depth, lofty ambition, unmoved by calamity. As the ancients would say—worthy of being made a general.”
Su Wanqing suddenly smiled. Her movements were refined and graceful as she lifted her teacup and sipped lightly, her entire being in harmony with the tea—elegance at its finest.
Shen Anyu returned the smile and said, “Auntie, I’ve learned a lot today. If I could hear your guidance regularly, I’d probably wake up smiling in my dreams.”
Su Wanqing chuckled. “You flatter me.”
“Learning is mutual. Even among three people, one can always be your teacher.”
“Yes, of course, Auntie. We’ll learn from each other.”
Then, Su Wanqing began chatting with Shen Anyu, asking a few questions about his background.
Naturally, Shen Anyu didn’t reveal the full truth. He gave vague answers while hinting at his influential family background. That red limited-edition Lamborghini worth thirty million parked outside was enough proof.
After all, he was still in the early stages of “winning her over.” Everything would fall into place with time.
Destiny Female Leads are Destiny Female Leads for a reason—they’re women of integrity who won’t bend for wealth or comfort.
Even if you threw a hundred million at them, they’d refuse out of pride.
But—if you spent that same amount creating unforgettable romantic moments, winning them over wasn’t so hard.
They might not love money, but every moment that moved them required either money or some unique ability to support it.
Of course, female leads in rich tycoon novels were a different breed—but unfortunately, he hadn’t encountered one yet. Otherwise, his Destiny Points would skyrocket.
Lin Keqing, for instance, only reached an affection level above seventy after he saved her entire family. And yet, Su Hongmian, whom he’d just met that very day, was already at eighty.
Shen Anyu wanted to run a comparison—see which strategy yielded better results. Of course, most importantly, he wanted to enjoy life!
No one was assigning him missions, so why bother exhausting himself?
He was living the villain’s life—might as well enjoy it to the fullest!
As for Ye Yan, the Chosen One from Master Descends the Mountain? Shen Anyu already felt confident he could deal with him.
Meanwhile, Su Wanqing was carefully studying Shen Anyu. Her elegant, mature face showed signs of satisfaction.
She didn’t really care about his background. What mattered was whether her daughter’s future boyfriend would treat her well.
Most important of all—he must not be some pretty boy just after her daughter’s money or affection.
Earlier, when Shen Anyu had shielded Su Hongmian instinctively, that small gesture had earned big points in Su Wanqing’s heart.
After some conversation, Su Wanqing had a clear picture in her mind.
She cast a helpless glance at her daughter, who was sitting perfectly straight and proper, and said,
“You… quietly brought home a boyfriend and nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“But I’ll admit—you’ve got a good eye. Anyu is a fine young man.”
“You’re in college now. It’s okay to date, but remember to stay safe. I’m not some old-fashioned parent…”
Su Hongmian finally let out a breath of relief. She giggled and leaned against Su Wanqing, acting coy. “Mom, as long as you’re not mad at me, I’m happy.”
Strangely, she didn’t bother explaining that Shen Anyu wasn’t actually her boyfriend—almost as if… she had already accepted it.
Shen Anyu kept his graceful smile, completely composed.
Whoosh—
By now, it was already past 10 p.m. Outside, the night had grown heavy, and it had begun to pour.
It was so dark you couldn’t see your own hand in front of your face.
Seeing this, Su Wanqing turned to Shen Anyu and said, “It’s late, and the rain’s heavy. Driving back wouldn’t be safe. Just stay here tonight. We have plenty of rooms.”
There was no full-time housekeeper—just part-time help who came during the day to clean and tidy up.
Neither Su Wanqing nor Su Hongmian liked having a live-in maid. It was just the two of them in the house.
The security in this high-end villa district was excellent, and it was nearly impossible for outsiders to sneak in. They felt completely at ease.
Shen Anyu responded with a polite, elegant smile and said, “Thank you for your hospitality, Auntie.”
