A Rich Second-Generation Villain Can’t Just Enjoy Life?

Chapter 19:

Chapter 19: A Backhanded Slap — Shen Anyu Shows No Mercy!

At this moment, Qin Ningbing was beyond pleased. Her delicate face was flushed with excitement, and her eyes shimmered like water.

In her view, developing the Ginseng Heart Pill within three months was almost impossible.

Shen Anyu, this noble young master of the Shen family of Yanxia, had definitely underestimated the difficulty.

Over the past three years, Renshintang Pharmaceutical Company in Magic Capital had mobilized its best researchers, invested five hundred million yuan, and even invited one of Yanxia’s most respected medical authorities—Divine Doctor Lu.

Yet they still hadn’t succeeded.

While part of the failure could be attributed to internal sabotage from Wang Hai and other shareholders, the main reason was that the task itself was too difficult.

The Ginseng Heart Pill was based on a classic traditional Chinese medicine formula, with effects like strengthening the heart, calming the spirit, and dispelling heart-related ailments.

Qin Ningbing’s goal was to mimic the success of artemisinin by extracting and refining the pill’s active ingredients, ultimately creating a more potent version: the Ginseng Heart Elixir.

She aimed to cure heart disease—or at the very least, provide an effective treatment.

But it had failed. Again and again.

Even if Shen Anyu could mobilize unimaginable resources with his Shen family background, accomplishing it within three months was practically impossible.

Qin Ningbing believed she had this bet in the bag!

Shen Anyu, however, found her quiet joy amusing.

The one destined to win—was him.

He had already guessed that the Ginseng Heart Elixir was Qin Ningbing’s greatest emotional burden, and that the bet would likely center around it.

And sure enough, it did.

But for Shen Anyu, who had perfectly replicated Xia Liu’s extraordinary medical skills, this task was nothing more than child’s play.

Aside from mystical acupuncture techniques, Shen Anyu’s copied abilities included many ancient and miraculous prescriptions—one of which detailed the secret of the Ginseng Heart Elixir.

Victory was guaranteed.

Looking at Qin Ningbing—the beautiful CEO, and the fiancée of Destiny’s Child Xia Liu—beaming with secret joy, Shen Anyu’s lips curled with amusement.

If Xia Liu, currently sitting in detention, ever found out that Shen Anyu had conquered his stunning fiancée using skills perfectly copied from him, his expression would be… priceless.

Qin Ningbing gracefully led Shen Anyu to the research lab of Renshintang Pharmaceutical Company and began explaining.

“Young Master Shen, these are our test mice. They all suffer from heart disease. At first, they showed signs of improvement after taking our developed Ginseng Heart Elixir, but in the end, every one of them died suddenly…”

As she spoke, Qin Ningbing looked at the sickly mice with a trace of helplessness and regret.

Three years of effort, and every time, success had slipped just out of reach.

“This is the batch of Ginseng Heart Elixirs we’ve developed…”

She gestured toward a nearby table, where several neatly labeled samples were stored.

Shen Anyu casually picked one up, sniffed it slightly, and sneered.

“These pills, taken long-term, will be lucky not to kill someone. Don’t even think about healing anything.”

“What?”

Qin Ningbing’s expression changed. She asked in a firm voice, “How can that be? Even if they don’t work, they shouldn’t be that harmful!”

She didn’t doubt his words—there was no reason for him to lie.

Still, it was deeply discouraging.

Had the past three years really been spent researching… trash?

These were already the twelfth-generation improved formulas of the elixir.

And yet, they still carried such severe side effects?

Just then, an energetic elderly man approached with a kindly smile and said to Qin Ningbing:

“President Qin, you’re here. We’ve made some recent progress. Please have a look at these documents.”

Qin Ningbing’s eyes lit up. She accepted the documents and introduced him to Shen Anyu.

“Young Master Shen, this is Divine Doctor Lu, a leading authority in Yanxia’s medical community. He was personally invited by our company at great expense. My late father had a good relationship with him—otherwise, we could never have brought him here.”

She showed great respect toward this elder.

Divine Doctor Lu sighed and said with a guilty look, “President Qin, you flatter me. In truth, after three years, we’ve made little progress. I’ve failed your trust.”

Qin Ningbing was just about to comfort him—after all, she understood how difficult the task was.

But suddenly—SMACK!

Shen Anyu sneered and slapped Divine Doctor Lu across the face with a backhanded swing!

Even though he hadn’t used much strength, the slap sent Divine Doctor Lu flying several meters and crashing hard into the wall. The entire room trembled from the impact.

“Young Master Shen… this…” Qin Ningbing’s lips parted in shock as she looked at Shen Anyu, stunned.

Was he really attacking Divine Doctor Lu just for failing to produce results?

And wasn’t Divine Doctor Lu here on her behalf? Why was Shen Anyu so angry?

Divine Doctor Lu clutched his swollen cheek, gritting his teeth in pain, and shouted at Qin Ningbing in fury:

“Qin Ningbing! I came here out of respect for your late father—and this is how you repay me? You let someone humiliate and beat me like this?”

He had no idea who Shen Anyu was. He assumed this was all done at Qin Ningbing’s request.

“Divine Doctor Lu, I…”

Qin Ningbing was just about to explain when—

CRACK!

Shen Anyu stepped forward and stomped on Divine Doctor Lu’s right leg!

“Aaaargh!”

His leg broke with a sickening sound. Divine Doctor Lu howled in pain, sweat pouring down his back and soaking through his clothes.

All around, researchers turned to look, stunned by the commotion.

They had no idea what had just happened.

Shen Anyu’s gaze turned cold as he looked down at Divine Doctor Lu and said flatly:

“Old man, want to explain the 8 million USD in your account at SwissBank?”

Divine Doctor Lu’s face changed instantly. He instinctively denied it.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about! You can’t accuse me without proof—!”

CRACK!

Another stomp.

This time, Shen Anyu broke his other leg.

The sound of bones snapping echoed through the lab.

Blood stained the floor, and Divine Doctor Lu’s legs were bent at unnatural angles.

Shen Anyu looked down at him with a chilling smile and said calmly, “Speak.”

“I’ll talk! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!!”

At this moment, Divine Doctor Lu looked at Shen Anyu as if he were staring at the devil.

This man had broken his legs so casually, and his indifference to violence convinced him—if he didn’t speak now, he wouldn’t survive.

Cold sweat pouring, his face ashen, Divine Doctor Lu trembled and confessed:

“That money was from Wang Hai. He paid me to sabotage the Ginseng Heart Elixir formula…”

Qin Ningbing’s beautiful face froze into a sheet of ice.

She hadn’t expected it.

One of the people she trusted most had been bought off by Wang Hai.

She had never treated Divine Doctor Lu poorly. The betrayal chilled her to the core.

“So that’s why it kept failing!”

“Despicable! He’s no doctor—he’s a disgrace!”

“A traitor to medicine!”

Voices of anger erupted from the other researchers. Most were furious.

Some, however, began to sweat and avert their gazes.

Shen Anyu waved his hand and said coldly:

“These few—take them all away. Let them rot in prison. Everything they owe must be returned—with interest.”

As his words fell, dozens of elite black-suited bodyguards stormed in and dragged Divine Doctor Lu and several researchers away.
