Chapter 893 The Last Mission: My Guardian Angel
Day Ninety-Four…
As everyone was busy in the dining hall, Jane chose to talk to Bam-Bam in the garden area.
"Master, what do you want to discuss with me?" Bam-Bam asked her curiously.
Jane had a complicated look on her face. "Bam-Bam, I saw something. Can you explain it to me?"
"What did you see, master?"
"I saw myself, including Nathan and Ethan. We were in a hospital. Is that the current timeline? Are the three of us not yet dead in the present timeline?"
"Oh, Master! You've seen it. That only means you are making a big progress on your current mission." Bam-Bam exclaimed in his elated voice.
She was still confused about what would happen after completing her mission.
"Bam-Bam, can you enlighten me? What will happen if I succeed with my mission? Will I stay here in this timeline and live with everyone? Or something different is going to happen to me, to Nathan and to our son?"
Bam-Bam fell silent for a moment, finding the right words to say. After a while, he gazed up, looking into Jane's eyes.
"Master, your fate including Nathan and Ethan is in your hands now. If you happen to succeed in your mission here, then you, Nathan, and Ethan will go back to the present timeline. The three of you will survive miraculously, despite the fact the three of you should have died already."
"You will also forget that you've returned to the past once you wake up in the current timeline. As of now, the three of you are in a coma state," Bam-Bam added.
Jane didn't know what to feel after hearing Bam-Bam's response.
"Does it mean… once I succeed… I will go back to the present time… and I won't see my friends again?" Jane was referring to the members of the Phantom Assassin Guild whom she was able to save in this timeline.
Bam-Bam nodded. "Yes, Master. Because, they were already dead."
Jane shook her head in disbelief. "Then… what's the purpose of letting me save them in this timeline if I couldn't bring them back alive?"
Bam-Bam gave her an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Master. But we couldn't bring them back. My power can only save you, Nathan, and Ethan. But the good thing is… you get another chance to be with your friends… in this timeline. So make the most of it."
Jane was saddened by this revelation. It turned out she still needed to say goodbye to her good friends.
"So… it will seem like what happens here is just a dream? That it never happened in the present timeline?"
Bam-Bam nodded once again. "Yes, Master. You won't even remember me. You will forget about my existence. But you will retain your memory from the moment you woke up from your coma state. A few details will be forgotten, but your moments with Nathan and the rest will remain in your memory."
"You will also forget about the soul swap. Nathan will only remember those moments with Abigail. You will forget that your soul lived in Abigail's body once."
Jane staggered to maintain her balance. She felt like she couldn't rejoice completely even if she accomplished her mission. She was worried about the things she would forget and the people she would left behind.
Then she stared at Bam-Bam with a sad expression on her face. Without saying a word, Jane pulled Bam-Bam and hugged him tightly. She didn't know why but her heart clenched at the thought of forgetting Bam-Bam's existence.
This magical creature played a big role in her life… especially in changing her fate. This fluffy creature was the one who gave her several chances to live and be with the people she loved.
"Bam-Bam," she said, her voice trembling as she tried her best to hold back her tears.
The magical creature fell silent once again. For some unknown reason, he felt something he never felt before– being sad. When the right time comes, he has to say goodbye to Jane. And he never regretted making some sacrifices for her.
"I owe you my life…" Jane continued, tightening her grip on Bam-Bam's fluffy body. "I don't know how I can return the favor. Words are not enough to express my gratitude to you."
"And why… why should I forget you? Can you please not erase my memory?" Jane begged her.
Bam-Bam shook his head. "Forgive me, Master. But I can't do that."
Jane broke the hug to look at Bam-Bam's face. The magical creature wore a sullen expression. She could tell that even Bam-Bam didn't want to be forgotten; however, they had no choice. It was inevitable.
"Master, don't worry. It's only Day Ninety-Four… You still have one week to spend time with them. Besides, I'm positive that Nathan will fall for you over and over again. So… your mission will succeed!"
"It's just a matter of time… and you will return to the present time. Nathan and Ethan will survive and be with you. That's the most important thing, right? So don't be sad about me and the others. Everyone will be glad to see you happy with your loved ones." Bam-Bam wanted to comfort Jane, cheering her up.
After hearing his words, Jane was reminded of the reason why she was doing this. It was true. Nathan and Ethan were the reasons why she came back to the past because she wanted to have another chance to be with them. She didn't want them to die.
"Bam-Bam… Thank you so much for everything." Jane realized what she needed to do. Her goal was clear. And she won't give up easily.
'I will forget everything. But I can do something to make myself remember all of this. I won't forget Bam-Bam. I have to remember this… because this has become part of my life. Past or present… they are my memories.' Jane thought to herself as she promised to find a way to recall everything once she woke up in the present timeline.
'Even if I have to write everything… I'll do it. I will make my own time machine.' Jane's eyes were filled with conviction. She hugged Bam-Bam one more time.
"Master, let me take this opportunity to tell you that… I'm so happy to have met you. And I'm glad I could be of help to you. This soul keeper is happy to serve you. Can I consider you as my human friend now, Master?"
Jane bobbed her head frantically. "Of course. You are my friend… the best magical friend I have… in my entire life. I'm so lucky to have you… my dear friend."
And for the first time, Bam-Bam shed a tear. The magical creature started to cry, feeling so touched by Jane's words.
"Thank you, Master! I will never forget you. Even if the time comes when you can no longer see me, I will always watch over you from afar. I only wish for you to be happy."
Jane smiled upon hearing that. "Yes. You are my friend… my guardian angel, my soul keeper." Tears began to fall from the corners of her eyes.
"Master, you have to go now. They might be looking for you now."
Jane nodded. "Alright. Don't disappear again. I'll call you when I need you. Please be there."
Bam-Bam gave her a reassuring smile. "Yes, master. Just call me. I will appear in front of you right away." Stay connected with My Virtual Library Empire
